Just put one of these on laway at my local pawn

I have a couple Hi-Points. 9MM and 45acp. Both are 100% reliable, and exceedingly accurate.
The first one I bought, the C9 was because of reading all the hate, and criticism aimed at Hi-Point I had to find out for myself if they could possibly be that bad. I was pleasantly surprised beyong belief at how good these guns are. Especially considering the price point.
If you are new to the Points, and havent seen the torture test videos, you need to watch.

And more, especially in the second one on factory service.

Like you, I bought a Hi-Point to see if they were as bad as the gun snobs said they were. I found it to be very accurate and reliable with the only downside was the looks and weight. It was my first handgun and one reason I bought it was it only cost me $125 and if I didn't like handguns, it would not be out much money. I replaced it (wish I had kept it) with a S&W SD9VE and I traded the Hi-Point for a Taurus revolver to see if they were as bad as the gun snobs claimed. I found the Taurus to be a good gun and I have bought 5 new ones that I like. They range from little bitty, to medium sized to revolvers.

Haven't personally fired one but the only negatives I hear are weight and appearance (usually referred to as ugly).

But if it's reliable for $150 then it's doing its job.

My brother's favorite gun is a CZ. But what gun does he always tald about when I call him? His Hi-point. He seems to get a big kick out of how well this inexpensive Pistol just keeps on trucking with such reliability Congrats to the OP!

I think Hi Point provides affordable firearms. There's nothing wrong with that. I've seen people have issues with them, usually magazine related, and I don't think I'd say they're the pinnacle of reliability or durability, but if that's what someone can afford they're usually better than people give them credit. I just don't put them on a pedestal.

Finally got to pic it up yesterday

taking it to the range today I'm very interested to see if the really heavy slide dampens recoil at all. Oh also I originally put a New one on layaway for the $159 but a month later they had a used one for $119 so I switched the layaway to the cheaper used one. So $127 out the door

Range report

Fired 40 rounds, recoil was less then expected. was very accurate, only two stoppages one failure to eject and the second failure to feed. the round nosed down in the magazine instead of feeding.

The warranty on a HiPoint is forever. The problem here is with a limited income you can only shoot it but so much to see what is going on. Shipping the gun back and forth isn't free either.

The upside is if you ever decide to sell it and upgrade you can get out of it what you have in it easily.
