Just in time for Christmas

'Sorry..... misleading. I had two different cylinders and was rotating them out, so I could shoot 12 times without reloading. I fired many balls today.

It didn't look so much like Jello after it cooled.

No, not really misleading, just been a long day with sinus infection.

Thanks for the tip about the colored wax chips, and I'm glad that the crayon doesn't cause any fouling issues.
However the same outfit also sells liquid soap dye that could be used like the colored wax chips. The color selection is limited but the soap dye is also described as being very concentrated.
Your lube came out to be very colorful though, and the crayons seem to work great. I just wasn't so sure about the composition of the crayon wax and its interaction with black powder. Some crayons might be different than others.

Standard crayons are 3.5 inches in length and made mostly of petroleum paraffin wax. Paraffin wax is heated and cooled to achieve the correct temperature in which a usable wax substance can be dyed and then manufactured for use around the world. Paraffin waxes are used for cosmetics, candles, for the preparation of printing ink, fruit preserving, in the pharmaceutical industry, for lubricating purposes, and crayons.

I'd stick with wax crayons. I don't know if anybody makes plastic crayons.... but go ahead and spend the whole quarter and get the good stuff. :)

I have not tried nor read about using soap dye. I do know that several of the guys over at castboolits forum use crayons and candle coloring chips in their lubes with happy results though.

Just get out and shoot!;)
Christmas is nearly here and it's really too late to order either product anyway. And for the next 3 months I'll have to explain to people why my lube is either red or green.

I never thought about making chamber casts with them. :)
Great idea though. I have some cerro-safe though that a guy on another forum alloys and sells. But it ain't as cheap as a Crayola! (which are free at most restaurants) ;) :p

After the holidays, if you fill 2 chambers with some undyed "white" lube then you can tell your friends that your Italian revolver is showing the colors of its "Home Country". :D

Crayola is the brand to get. The cheap crayons are CRAP, they don't even color that well. And yeah I'm 35 y/o and still color with my daughter. I'm pretty dang good at it too :D
