Just came back from my LGS, some questions for the S&W gurus.

I have a model 27-2 4" Nickel --- that I'm really fond of....and I've been shooting 3 or 4 boxes a week thru it lately - at tactical drills out of a holster....draw and double tap in 3 sec......or draw and triple tap in 4 sec ...

and there is just something about the N frame / that I really like.

is a crummy photo ( had to downsize its pixels to get it to fit forum guidelines)....but there is a Henry Big Boy rifle I have in .357 mag / A Freedom Arms single action revolver 4 3/4" octagonal barrel, large frame, 5 shot I had made in .357 mag a few yrs ago / and the model 27-2 Nickel in 4" .....357 mag obviously.....

To me, the .357 mag is a perfect cartridge....and I can reload it with 158gr FMJ bullets for right around $ 8 a box....so I shoot it a lot.../ I can load some light .38 spls for the grandkids to shoot in these guns...or whatever....

BigJimP, the reason to keep the box & papers is that they are worth something. Some old S&W boxes go for $400 or more by themselves. As with anything collectable, the original packaging and accessories can affect the value a lot.

If I ever sell a firearm, I'd rather sell to a collector than a shooter. The collector will want the box, and will pay a collector's price.

If you want a relatively light-weight revolver that has a six-shot capacity, I'd jump on the Model 12. As Obamublate noted, the Model 12 is hard to locate and becoming increasingly so. No (or limited if you're so inclined) +Ps though.
