Just bought my first revolver!

I guess I don't see why it needs to be removed, unless you may want to soak it in cleaner. To me, just isn't necessary. I like that discolored look after a lot of use on the cylinder. Shows good plain honest use which I think looks better.
All the cylinder needs (apart from the obvious passes in each hole) is maybe a drop of cleaner or drop of oil on the ejection rod.

I'll agree with the above poster

Don't bother with shooting single action-Period. Doesn't really accomplish anything. You are best served to master trigger control in double action.

Nice gun, by the way.

Good to know about the cleaning. Also I haven't been using single action at all. Really really glad I bought this gun, it's awesome!

The cylinder assembly is easily removable. The yoke screw (just above the trigger) is the only thing holding it onto the gun. I don't recommend taking it off the gun unless you've got a good reason to, certainly not for routine cleaning.

If you've just got to have it off, though, know that you can easily drop the assembly on the floor and damage it, so listen up: Remove the screw, then, while holding the revolver just over a table, carefully open the cylinder, and lay the revolver on it's side (cylinder side up, of course). Hold the cylinder stationary with one hand, and slide the yoke forward off the gun with the other. Your cylinder assembly is now removed. Don't disassemble the cylinder further. Yes, it can be done, but there's no reason to, and you risk stripping some delicate threads, and dealing with an ejector rod that keeps coming loose.

Also, you can bugger the screw heads if you use a conventional screwdriver.

You need a hollow ground screwdriver blade, not a tapered blade.

Well, it sounds as if you have caught the gun fever. Next you will need another one, then another one, and so on. No cure. On the bright side, all of us have it and can give much advice on the next one too.:p
