Just bought a Hi-Power New in Box and it is awesome...

The actual weapon was built in 1995 ( goto browning website for North America, and it shows you how to date your guns from the serial #`s.).

It is a Browning Hi-Power "Practical" in 9mm and has a Two-Tone finish ( Blued slide and Chromed frame ), and adjustable sights with Pachmayer grips with the Browning "Buckmark" on them...Also has the Commander style hammer...

Made in Belgium, assembled in Portugal.

I haven`t had a Browning HP in years, and thought I would get one since they aren`t making them anymore...

Also have 2 Factory Hi-Cap Mags for it...
( Bought separately at $45.00 bucks apiece)

Gun cost... $639.00 (not including extra mags.)

OUCH!!!

BUT GOD IT SHOOTS GOOD........

TIGHT groups, NO flyers...

Most accurate gun I own .....

(hammer still pinches the web of my meaty little paws...)

Anyways, just thought I`d share my most recent purchase and see if you guys have any feedback... :)

Congrats! It's very, very hard to go wrong with a BHP.

As for how much it cost, I like the saying, "Quality is remembered when price is forgotten."

:)

Congrats on the BHP. I just "discovered" the hi-powers this year. I love mine so much, it's having a Bar Sto barrel put in it as we speak.

By the way, you'll love it even more with the plain jane MKIII grips. The pachs are way too thick in my opinion. I tried them and returned them the next week.

Congrats!! If you decide to have any gunsmith work done, I highly recommend Kurt Wickmann. I recently had him do a bunch of custom work on mine and it is AWESOME! He can do a mod for the hammer so it won't bite your hand, new sights, texture the slide and front/back straps, etc....

Congrats GIT_SOME.45,
I've been a fan of and owned a BHP for about 35 years, they are great pistols and I'm sure you are going to enjoy yours as much as I have enjoyed mine.

Take care & keep the brass flying. :)

you've got very good taste in firearms :)

congrats on your new HP! I'll second Kurt Wickmann as a fine choice for any 'smithing needs you might want. You can see my pride and joy at his site {8~)

Congrats on the purchase I own and/ or have shot a bunch of the 9mms, Beretta 92, G19, Sig p226 and a bunch others.

Anyhow my point is is that for some reason I can shoot the Browning Hi-Power that will never leave my gun collection better than all of the others as far as accuracy. Great Gun. Used by BOTH AXIS and ALLIES during world war II. That tells you something

I dont carry it though in SD because I am not a SA fan for concealed carry.

I have the standard mkIII and envy your "commander hammer" and "two tone" finish :)

Great Pick

While the 1911 may be the King of handguns, the Hi-Power is the Queen. A thing of true grace and beauty.
Long live the queen!

Congrats! I have my Hi-Power on my hip at the moment, and it is definitely an accurate firearm. I was using mine on short range gophers earlier, if that says anything. Long live the queen!

GIT_SOME.45, congratulations on your purchase. Yes, it was steep by my standards but in 10 years it will be cheap. Like many, the High-Power is my handgun of choice. With all this said, I do not like Pachmyer grips on a High-Power. Get a pair of Kim Ahrends or Spegel grips and you will be in HOG HEAVEN! I have size 12 hands and the Pachmyer grips add size where it isn't needed. Regards, Richard.

I was at the range shooting one day. A guy next to me was shooting at 2 paste on 2" sticker targets and alternating between them and filling them with holes....FAST.

I remarked on how well he was shooting and asked what kind of gun it was. It was a Hi-Power with a trigger job.

He asked if I would like to try it. To my amazement, I could do nearly as well as he did.

I bought one the next day. Had a trigger job and there is NO OTHER GUN (as far as I know) that can shoot so fast and come back on aim so quickly. Before the indoor range closed, I used to gather an audience at the windows that looked in on the shooters by doing that alternating fast shooting.

And .....it wasn't hard at all. The Browning Hi Power is one of the best guns of all time. I like it BETTER than my Colt Gold Cup. An that is goin some.

I recently purchased a Hi-Power practical this year as well. After much searching, I found one for $445 in truly excellent condition. No wear at all. Only a VERY little on the slide rails; I doubt the previous owner put more than a box or two through it. Anyway, the gun came with the factory box and manual, but already had MKIII style grips on it. That was just fine with me, as I like those better than the Pachmyers and I'm going to replace the MKIII with Spegal grips when I get the chance. I haven't been able to shoot this gun a whole lot yet, but I am 100% extremely impressed with it so far. It points more naturally than any other weapon I own, and doesn't have the clunky overstuffed feel of many of today's autos (sorry, but I can't stand the "feel" of guns like the USP). Just think about it: many people rave about there particular guns, but how many people have you heard complain about their Hi-Power. Sure, there are some guns that are just old and/or modified in some way that makes them less than reliable, but I have never heard of anyone with a current production MKIII framed Hi-Power say they can't stand the gun. Now, as soon as I get my most recent acquisition (a SAR-1) paid off, I'll buy a case of 9mm and have some fun!

Martowski, my friend do yourself a favor and look at Kim Ahrends grips. I like the grips and these people are really nice to work with. You know if I recommend them they have to be good. Richard doesn't buy no junk! Regards, Richard.
