What should I do with junks guns I cant even give away? I really have no use for them and cant get anything for them (I tried lol). Right now they sit in the cabinet with not use. Any ideas?

+1 to what Joe said.

Or if you're in a particularly nasty frame of mind and live in the right area you could flog up the anti-gun folks and hopefully get them to stage a gun buy-back program.

penny auction on gunbroker, call it a "project gun." won't be much for just a junk gun but you might get something.

Project guns +1

I have some older shotguns that are worth about their weight in scrap.

I have used the barrels to practice blueing/refinishing. I was able to salvage a trigger guard from one for use on a friends gun.

If they absolutely do not work, have fun with them. Bury one in the flower garden and have the kids do a treasure hunt. Wedge the barrel between to tree limbs and forget about it for twenty years, see how much the tree grows around it.

You could always offer them to a gunsmith for parts.

id sell them on gunbroker, penny auction and buyer covers shipping, or i like that let a tree grow around em idea.

weld the insides together nasty so they dont work (do you need a gunsmith to do this???) and use them as decoration.

have a gunsmith or metalsmith tie one in a knot and use it as a conversation piece.

If they work and arnt dangerous or malfunction, i would give them away to youth shooters or new shooters.

If you are going to give them to the police, why not find one of those gun buy backs? At least you would get a coupon for school supplies or something.

Put one up in a tree and see how much it grows around it. i like that idea, think i will try that myself. Gun broker the rest of them.

Turn em into art pieces,,,

I once took an old dead revolver and filled it up with epoxy,,,
Then I made a shadowbox and mounted it with a 45 PRM record of "Saturday Night Special".

Gave it to my musician brother.

I also made a standing table lamp out of an old S&W Pump Shotgun,,,
Again I completely filled the workings with epoxy.

Sold it for $175 if I recall correctly,,,
That's more than I could have parted the gun out for.

Get creative my friend.

Thanks for the ideas. One is a shot out S&W sigma 40c that gives me problems and a norinco 1897 pump that gives me problems. I replaced the sigma with better pistols so I have absolutely no use for it.

You may be surprised that people are indeed willing to pay for parts/project guns. I had an Iver Johnson TP-22 that kaboomed on me pretty royally (these guns aren't particularly desirable even when in working order). The frame cracked, as did the slide, and the trigger guard snapped off as well. The slide would no longer move freely along the rails of the frame. It would be hard to imagine a less-desirable firearm short of something that's largely rusted away. But I posted an ad selling it on another forum (one more specifically geared for the region of the country I reside in), described its problems in detail, listed it as a "parts gun" and asked for $25. That same day, I had two different people send me messages that they would buy it, so I sold it to the first taker. As quickly as it sold, I suspect if I priced it a little higher, I could have gotten a few more dollars out of it.

What kind of problems did you have with the Norinco 97? I have one that I have yet to fire and I wonder what kind of problems I can look forward to.

The shell will make it half way out of the magazine and get jammed up making it impossible to pump. Only way I have found to clear it is to push the round back in and clear manuall.y
