@68, Gary, I've learned some harsh lessons about flat statements. Many of my "It will..." or "It won't..." statements have come back to bite me.
While I'm feeling better now about this election process I'm in the "hold and hope" mode - there are yet a couple hurdles lurking.

With Reno and her gang now investigating, we still need to keep a close eye out. Have no doubt, she will make a federal case out of this...... There were so many votes that could not be cast for gore because they were prevented from votin by those big bad gun tottin thugs in FL. I keep tellin ya' gore & clinton & crew have no choice. It's either win the election or go to jail. They know that if someone else gets in power, all of their illegals will be revealed.
So what is going to have to happen? The FL legislature will have to step in and appoint the electors. After all the constitution reads that it is the states that appoint the electors who will vote for president. This is the only way that W will be legally elected. Until the 12th of December, gore when he looses in state court, will make a federal case out of it.

If this plays out and Gore smells the coffee or otherwise gets a clue,
1. Next year will be a good one for voting machine salesmen in FL.
2. The tantrum the voters will throw in `02 will make '94 look like a day in the park. Likely winners: hard to call but if they quit whining and start voting (turn outrage into action) it'll be the Dems, after all, it's their ox that's been gored (pardon the pun, couldn't resist). OTOH, they may have shot their wad (this was the best they can do & they've exhausted thier supply of illegals, homeless, stupid minorities and anyone else who will sell their vote for a pack of butts) and the republicans, bolstered by moderates of all stripes, will kick the far left liberal @$$es into the weeds. We can only hope.
3. The Dems will screw with Bush the way the Reps screwed with Klinton in his first term, and seek every opportunity to discredit him (it's already begun -). The real winner here is us - the people - as the only things that are going to get done are things that everyone can agree on, which isn't much. Status quo for the next two, and probably four years.
Time for a new bulb in the crystal ball (the one I borrowed from the refridgerator grows dim -) M2

Red Bull-My beloved and I thought about that one too. If Florida's votes get thrown out then Al wins because without Florida he has more electoral votes.

If Al gets the votes for FL thrown out, then since no candidate has a majority of the electoral votes ( 270 or more), the U. S. house of reps would select the next president of the U.S. However, even if gore gets more votes added, it should not matter b/c the election has been certified. We will just have to see how things play out in seminole county....

Opus - that depends on how you look at it. If Florida's electoral votes are thrown out (not considered at all) the Gore has a majority of the remaining electoral votes and will win. If Florida's electoral votes remain but don't go to either candidate, then Bush would win the vote in the House.
On the bright side, Boies and Gore have both indicated that they will accept whatever decision is handed down on Judge Saul's ruling by the Florida Supreme Court. Effectively, they are agreeing to concede if they lose the appeal and considering how badly they got slammed on the original decision, the chances of losing the appeal are pretty good.
Of course, Gore has conceded the election once already and if you are basing your hopes on a lawyer telling the truth (let alone a lawyer representing Al Gore), then you are already screwed.

Bartholomew, Gore said words to that effect on "60 Minutes." But he threw in enough wiggle words that I still have my doubts about him ever conceding. I also think that his team is working over any Bush elector they think is vulnerable. Even if Bush gets Florida, Gore's henchmen only need to turn four electors into faithless electors. How improbable is it that, out of 271 electors in the states Bush has one (including for sake of argument Florida), there are four who have some personal secrets they _really_ don't want made public? If they can get to Billy Dale, Kathleen Willey, Gennifer Flowers, the former Miss America (forget her name), Linda Tripp, Bob Livingstone, Newt Gingrich, Michael Isakov (sp?), and all the others they pressured, do you think they can't find four electors who at one time or another had their zippers down at the wrong time?
Watch, too, Seminole County. This one is ripe for a coup. If they succeed in throwing out those votes, I would hope that the folks in the military would be steaming. What would be the result of a "greenout," where all the servicemen around the world called in sick to protest Gore's thievery?
