Judge denies motion to dismiss case against Philly mom arrested for legal gun in NJ

Just FYI, all DAs will go for the throat at first. They place the harshest of all charges on the table and then they can if they choose to, negotiate down.

I think the prosecutor got what they wanted and the defendant got a lessor punishment.

That doesn't appear to be the case here. If you read the last linked article, it looks like the prosecutor was operating under guidelines established by a former Attorney General. The current Acting AG changed the guidelines.
 
The country wide criticism and personal identification of the prosecutor and judge probably helped some.
Wonder how they will proceed with other cases that don't hit the limelight, like this one did.
 
She also got lucky on the timing. This same "justice" system in that area did a slap on the wrist for a psycho wife-beater in the NFL. If they'd thrown the book at her while letting that maniac go it would have looked extremely bad.
