John Popper arrested with "arsenal"

"Popper indicated to troopers that he had installed these items in his vehicle because (in the event of a natural disaster) he didn't want to be left behind,"

Bwhahahahaha! - This guy needs the tactical wheelbarrow.

111mph + Smokable rope = stupidity.

Popper did not immediately return an e-mail seeking comment Wednesday night - I wonder why....:D

12-34hom.

I like how FOX spun this story to make it seem to be about the weapons and drugs.
Media sensationalism at it's finest.

At least they didn't introduce the word "Arsenal" to the thread ;)

Yes, I introduced the term "arsenal", but as one may readily discern the word is in quotes indicating my disdain of the term.

1st that fast is reckless automatic go to jail.
2nd the weed is a misdemenor (I know that's not right spelling)
3rd the para would mean he had a pipe or rolling papers of some sort
4th Ten bucks says that the guns were loaded or ammo was readily available which is a felony
5th if the suv had compartments then they probably felt the need to inspect further
As for the lights and siren they are not illegal as long as they weren't on. Unless they were in the open like a light bar. Flashing lights are ok in a parking lot and so is the siren unless someone calls in, then it's noise pollution.
In the end if the police want to persue he could never own a gun again. Drugs in the same car as a gun is just like domestic violence. If he wasn't famous he'd be in jail for a long time because of all the factors it would make it a felony.

I know, I also laughed when I first saw it.. it's painful how often the word "arsenal" is used. I'm not even fond of the word "cache". Neither for their denotation, but the connotation as some kind of evil or something.

If he had weed why wouldn't he also have a pipe or rolling papers? I'll never understand why this should be a seperate offense that qualifies one for additional punishment. If anything it should only reduce punishment, as it suggests intent to use rather than distribute.

Yeah, it reminds me of when Puff Daddy (or P-Diddy, or Sean Combs, or whatever he wants to call himself) got into a spot of weapons-related trouble. He made some comment to the extent of "they wouldn't even take this so far if it wasn't for who I was..."

That's right they wouldn't...because they wouldn't have to. If you were just some average guy (especially some average black guy) you'd have plead out long ago in the hopes of avoiding spending a few decades in prison.

Of course, in this particular case, I don't think anybody but the driver did anything wrong. Illegal, of course...but not wrong in my opinion. So I won't be too outraged if he gets off easy.

well if he had had more it would be intent to sell but he didn't have enough. I agree about the driver but hey it's his car his guns his drugs. The driver should be an accessory and they both ought to go to jail for a little while, but then he'd just write a book and some songs and make even more money so it probably doesn't even matter ya know.

You mean like "compound"? If they are speaking of Branch Davidians it is baaaaaad. If they are speaking of a certain family in Hyannisport it is Camelot.

He wasn't driving. Who's the victim? Name please.

A drunk is going 135 down main street, narrowly missing 4 orphaned children. Where is the victim there? Where is the victim in attempted murder?

I'm not saying specifically that he should go to jail. Although the drunk should...

All the guy did was ride in a car. Was he supposed to shoot the driver? The dude likes to mellow out with weed, why should I give a hoot?

I wasn't asking to compare the potential consequences of a modern vehicle built for high speeds traveling at 111 mph on a limited access highway with a vehicle of unknown condition being driven by a drunk person at 135 mph in an urban area known to be frequented by pedestrians. Could we stay on-topic please?

for all you cop-lovers:

he wasn't driving

he wasn't driving

he wasn't driving

he wasn't driving

to support his arrest, you are also agreeing that if someone shoots other people with you gun at the range after borrowing it from you, you get arrested for the crime. fair, no?

When I said speeding I meant the driver and as far as drugs go, ask your local LEO what they think of that in a car with guns.
