Jersey City Rules for Gun Manfactureres Bidding on their Police Department weapons

Easy sleezy:
What do you do to combat illegal gun trafficking and illegal gun crime?
"We support our local law enforcement agencies"
Do you manufacturer and sell assault weapons for civilian use?
"No" edit "No, unless the civilian has NFA approval to own one." Armorer-at-law makes an indisputable point above.
Do you agree not to sell certain models of firearms for civilian use?
"No" edit: "No, we will follow all applicable legal restrictions."
Are you requiring your dealers to conduct background checks?
"They are requied by federal law to do so."
Do you fund research related to gun violence and smart gun technology?
"Our research is confidential and proprietary unless you have signed an NDA with our corporation"
Will you commit to prohibiting your brand name from being used in violent video games?"
"Our marketing strategies are confidential and prorpietary unless you have signed an NDA with our corporation"

Feel free to cut and paste

while I'd like to believe gun companies are pro 2nd amendment, they are about the bottom line. dollars over rights.

I'd like to be proven wrong but only time will tell with this particular example. it will be interesting to see after all the hullabaloo fades and people forget.... which companies actually played this game.

History would prove you right. Colt was (and may still be-I'd have to check) run by a personal friend of Chuck Schumer, Troy Industries has appointed some pretty questionable folks to their leadership, and Smith & Wesson has a checkered past.

Their business is making and marketing a product. Support for the 2nd Amendment is often incidental.

To answer the first, second and third question: From Major Barbara (by George Bernard Shaw):
...UNDERSHAFT [determinedly] No: none of that. You must keep the
true faith of an Armorer, or you don't come in here.

CUSINS. What on earth is the true faith of an Armorer?

UNDERSHAFT. To give arms to all men who offer an honest price for
them, without respect of persons or principles: to aristocrat and
republican, to Nihilist and Tsar, to Capitalist and Socialist, to
Protestant and Catholic, to burglar and policeman, to black man
white man and yellow man, to all sorts and conditions, all
nationalities, all faiths, all follies, all causes and all
crimes. The first Undershaft wrote up in his shop IF GOD GAVE THE
HAND, LET NOT MAN WITHHOLD THE SWORD. The second wrote up ALL
HAVE THE RIGHT TO FIGHT: NONE HAVE THE RIGHT TO JUDGE. The third
wrote up TO MAN THE WEAPON: TO HEAVEN THE VICTORY. The fourth had
no literary turn; so he did not write up anything; but he sold
cannons to Napoleon under the nose of George the Third. The fifth
wrote up PEACE SHALL NOT PREVAIL SAVE WITH A SWORD IN HER HAND.
The sixth, my master, was the best of all. He wrote up NOTHING IS
EVER DONE IN THIS WORLD UNTIL MEN ARE PREPARED TO KILL ONE
ANOTHER IF IT IS NOT DONE. After that, there was nothing left for
the seventh to say. So he wrote up, simply, UNASHAMED.
...

Anyway, this might be a good way for Jennings or High Point to get into the LE market.

Okay, the foregoing was off-topic. Let's return to our regularly scheduled thread.

Just for fun from an ex-resident of the Garden State... more answers you'll never hear:

What do you do to combat illegal gun trafficking and illegal gun crime? - We call the police and report such crimes if they come to our attention, like most reasonable people do... seeing as how we are not, in point of fact, a law enforcement agency. We also took the liberty of consulting the Department of Redundancy Department with regards to your classification of "crime" as "illegal." Their response was as follows: "That is generally the case, yes."

Do you manufacture and sell assault weapons for civilian use? - If a citizen or legal resident has completed the necessary paperwork, it is not within the scope of our authority to prevent the sale of any firearm to that individual regardless of whether we made the firearm in question or not. Please note again that we are not a law enforcement agency, and you wouldn't very much like our priorities if we were one.

Do you agree not to sell certain models of firearms for civilian use? - We agree that we do not sell certain models of firearms for civilian use. We would, however, very much like to.

Are you requiring your dealers to conduct background checks? - You may wish to see a psychologist about this persistent delusion you seem to have about our company being a law enforcement agency.

Do you fund research related to gun violence and smart gun technology? - We fund any research that might lead to an increased profit margin, because we are a business. We are, in fact, committed to developing "smart" gun technologies: more comfortable holsters, ergonomic grips, smoother triggers, and other such improvements that lead to a product that will better satisfy the needs of our loyal customers. We do understand that this is not what you meant, but we like it better our way.

Will you commit to prohibiting your brand name from being used in violent video games? - Our policy is to prohibit the use of our brand name in any form of entertainment media by any company or person that has not signed a contract for the licensed use of same. We are given to understand this is a normal practice.

Crime is legal when committed by elected and appointed public officials. Didn't you get the memo?

"Do you manufacturer and sell assault weapons for civilian use?"

Not in New Jersey. Assault weapons are illegal here.

"Do you agree not to sell certain models of firearms for civilian use?"

Yes. Again certain weapons are illegal for civilian use in New Jersey.

If I were a gun manufacturer, I would make this application public.
VERY public, along with my reply--as in using it in my advertising.
I'll bet that would generate a surge in civilian sales in excess of
what Jersey City would buy.

Heck, Ronnie Barrett and others have told California to pound sand,
and they are all still doing just fine.
