Iver Johnson took a dump, what now?

Gabilondo, the manufacturer of the Llama pistols is now out of business, so parts are going to be a headache for you in the not-too-distant future.

Well, I spent a bit of time playing with the Llama, it's an awkward feeling pistol, and if I didn't need to have a reliable .22 plinker, then I'd get it without hesitating, but like it's been said: parts will be hard to get. I've also read that they FTF and FTE alot.

I've decided on a Ruger MkIII bull barrel and I'm going to donate plasma twice a week to get the cash together to buy one. They're reliable, cool looking, shoot well and are trusted hand guns.

I'm also going to hit up the gun show here in november to search out a parts IJ to fix mine with. It appears that the cylinder lock bolt is part of the trigger on these guns, so I need a new trigger, sear and sear spring. But it looks like the notches on the back of the cylinder are chewed up pretty badly, too, leading me to believe that that may be causing the cylinder to not lock up correctly. There's just so many little things that are quarky with the IJ that I think it'd take a bit of smithy time to get it working, once it's back to 100%, it'll go out shooting with me as a tribute to my granddad.

edit: I actually think that the bolt was filed down on the trigger to counteract the arm not advancing the cylinder enough and causing it to lockup. I'm betting it's a similar story with the SA sear, too. Probably wore out and would cause the gun to lock-up occasionally, so my granddad just popped it out.

Sounds like a Project!

If $100 makes the IJ good as new then go for it. A new $200 gun won't be much better than what you have and might be worse.

If you don't mind buying used then a Ruger Mk II would be a good choice. No way will you find a good double action revolver for that price.

I have a Llama .22 and the gun works reliably enough, but the accuracy is mediocre at best. It's an ok gun to take out in the desert and shoot cans or whatnot, but I don't take it seriously.
