It's going to be another BOY!

George Hill

Staff Alumnus
Mrs Kodiac just came back from the Doctor's Office. She had the first Ultrasound done... and it's certainly a proud and well endowed little fella!
My wife was hoping for a girl... but now this 5th boy will round out a nice FIRE-TEAM!
Child is Due is December and we are thinking of doing a home birth. We are butting heads with the hospital already.
We HATE hospitals... Nurses feel that they can care for a baby better than the Mom can... Thats BS. They take the child just born and want to scrub it and jab it's heel so the whole heel is painfully bruised... then they rub this thick gel into the eyes... Just WTF is Vitamin K anyway? I think its all BS and unneeded. I child doesnt need all that BS included being stamped and enumerated in its fist hour of life... So we are already filling out PATIENT's RIGHTS WAIVERS so we can avoid a lot of "Sorry - Policy!"
I am set and determined to deliver a kick to the nuts (or other applicable region) to anyone who says the word "POLICY" to me.

Mad and Proud! :D

Congrats Kodiak!

I have one due on Thanksgiving day that wouldn't cooperate with the utrasound. The sex will remain a mystery until then.

George, do you have licensed midwives in the area? They are wonderful. If so, hire one and she will see that things go the most simple and natural way.

"...it's certainly a proud and well endowed little fella!"

Um, that's the umbilical cord.

Congratulations! My daughter just turned two weeks old. I am warning you now that I am a VERY protective father. Suitors need not apply until she is at LEAST 25 years old. :D

Congratulations, George!

(hospitals thinking they are more qualified to care for a healthy infant that its mother makes about as much sense as schools thinking they are more qualified to teach childrent than their parents...how/when did all this happen, anyway? )

Oddly enough, our local hospital is quite small -- both my children and both my granchildren were born there -- and they are great! They don't take over; they leave the care almost totally to the mother, unless she needs the sleep or feels she needs support. They stay well in the background. It may be the difference between small community hospitals and the big urban ones.

Congratulations!
Riddle me this: How much food can 5 teenage boys eat?
Answer: I do not know, but if it is more than my 4 boys can eat, you are in trouble. :)

I think the more pressing -- and more frightening -- question -- is "How much food can five *Hill* boys eat?"

I have a hunch that it's quite a lot. Why? I dunno. Like I said, it's just a hunch. A LOT. Did I say I think it would be a lot?

Yeah.

Congrats George! You must be picky with the old XY chromosones. :D

Plus this is one more potential future suitor for my daughter. She is 3 months tomorrow. ;)

George, are you my brother using a pseudonym????? No, can't be. My S-in-L ain't pregnant - at the moment.
He's got 5 boys at the moment and they are the tops, along with my other 12 nephews!
I certainly wish you the absolutist best.

My wife and I are expecting our first baby in about seven weeks. I am so excited, and cannot wait to see if it is a boy or girl. We will be having ours at home. We have hired a Certified Nurse Midwife with 12 years of experience. We started out planning on going the hospital route because with our insurance it would be cheaper, but as I learned more I agreed whith my wife that a home birth would be safer and more in line with our philosophy of life, meaning taking personal responsibility for our actions and seeking to live in a healthy and natural way. Also I learned that non-medicated home births are safer than birth in the most modern hospital. The World Health Organisation actively promotes midwives and homebirth, I can hardly believe I agree with them about anything.

A major factor in our decision to have the baby at home was that we wanted to avoid the tension of having to constantly resist the standard protocol and procedures. We didn't wan't vitamin K, antibiotics in the eyes or other harsh treatment that is pretty standard and totally unnecessary.

I was also suprised to learn that routine episiotomies are not necessary and can cause serious damage. I told the midwife that a doctor could do one on my wife the day he let me stick my pocket knife up his rectum and make a cut to his chin.

Other benifits of homebirth are that there will never be any question as to whether they mixed the babies up in the nursery, and you can remain armed. Our hospital has big no gun signs at every entrance. I routinly ignore them but it would be rather difficult to keep my carry piece concealed throughout my wife's entire labor and delivery while I am acting as her coach. Getting arrested while she is in labor would be really bad.

Congratulations Kodiac!! :) :) :)

This is great news!

Let's see now ... you need more food ... you'll both need more sleep ... you'll need more ammo .... more magazines for the boys' firearms .... whew - this is gonna be very, very expensive. ;)

At least the weather will be cooling down for the remainder of the pregnancy - that'll help Mrs. K.

Take care, and best wishes. It will be a merry holiday season indeed. Regards from AZ

Definate congratulation to you both!

Hey George are ya buyin' enough guns that you'll be able to pass them down to your "fire-team?" Ahhh, never mind. silly question. :)
