Italians shot by US Troops

I have about had it with the damn media. Today I hear an Italian (former hostage in Iraq) speaking about a incident that took place yesterday. Well, good Ole ABC put her story on. She was in the process of being rescued and as her vehicle came within range, US Forces are reported to have fired on the vehicle. I will state this as third party because I trust the media machine about 10% of the time. As a spokeswoman for the Italian lady recalled: The vehicle was shot up by forces and it wasn't even speeding. The victim claims her rescuer was shot and killed while putting his body over the female to shield her. Do you think that ABC might have a US Military spokesperson on to explain our side? No - I guess us bad American Blood Crazed Troops are just out to kill everyone......man I am frosted by the lack of respect or at least a fair chance to explain. I saw this at 8am this morning. I hope by now the US Military has had a chance to speak.......that is if it's ok with the agenda driven media machine. NOW...don't get me wrong. This is a sad and unfortunate event. I also know that our forces are killed each day by these same (not speeding) vehicles that drive up and blow up next to our troops. It still is war and shi* happens in war. Like it or not.........IT'S WAR........ Now if these same troops hadn't fired on this so called slow moving vehicle and it turned out like many before.....how many dead US Servicemen and ladies would we be getting a report on?

I am just about sick of the media from Martha Stewart's return, Mike Jackson's days maybe years in court, How bad Bush is doing, How social security is all a mess, How SUV's keep killing people, and on and on.......

Am I alone here in the woods or do you folks here this and want to :barf: too?

Sorry just had to vent..........thanks for the ears...... ;)

I've read a couple articles about the incident. All of them mentioned that the soldiers opened fire because the vehicle failed to slow down and that this is standard practice. I can discern no reason to be upset at the media.

;) your right they do a real Bang - Bang job ( ;) Sorry if your working for the media or know someone whom is.... I must rephrase and say the big dogs at the top of the media pecking order........ that might make the statement a little more fair...........sorry if I hurt any feelings ;)

news

Been readin on this one as well.
any mistake or SNAFU and the media will atack attack attack.
Bad and bad things happen,we all are aware of friendly, accidental fire causualties.

I'm inclined to believe the Military. Is it possible that they screwed up and they are covering it up? Sure, absolutely. I find it much more believeable that the Italians didn't stop and died because of it. Also, it doesn't help that the Italians can't agree on how amny people were in the car when it happened. If they failed to stop, to bad for them, it is sad, but they failed to stop while approaching US forces.

She was in the process of being rescued and as her vehicle came within range, US Forces are reported to have fired on the vehicle.
She wasn't "being rescued". She had already been released by the death-cult psychotics that were holding her. She was simply being driven to the airport and for whatever reason her driver didn't think it was incumbent upon him to slow down and stop at the American checkpoint. He thought wrong. Oh well.

You know what the american people want secruity but they don't want to see what it takes to get it. Besides it isnt the first the us troops fired on them
(WW2 hehe im funny)

She in now trying to make it into something huge. Saying she was warned by her captors that the americans would never let her live, and she was the target of some conspiricy to silence her by US forces.

how hard is it to say, we held the american pigs in contempt, and refused to stop, because we do not agree with thier methods, and i am lucky my stupid ass is alive to complain.....

I wonder if the mess would be better or worse if American troops had done their talking with a TOW missile instead of small arms?

It's tragic that people died in this accident...

but what people/media don't realize is that this is a war! People die! Accidents happen! If they didn't stop at the checkpoint it's their own fault! I am also very sick of the negative media! They have no place over their anyways. Like I really wanna hear about war from a journalist! They know nothing about war! They hide behind the army they trash talk everyday. We use valuable troops to protect these so called journalists and they mouth us like what we are doing isn't right! They are journalist because we have the freedom of speech in our country! Soldiers have died to protect that freedom and they don't appreciate it one bit! They must be french or something.

Speaking of which, what weapons do US soldier have at checkpoints? If it had been a vehicle full of militants, wouldn't something heavier than the .223 be needed?

She is naive. If we wanted her dead, she'd be dead. There is nothing in a car that stops a .50 BMG and plent of vehicles have that if not more. Medical aid can be slow to get there, etc.
Besides, a bomb that is set up right before the checkpoint gets the job done without involving US soldiers in plain sight. Whats going to happen, some terrorists deny it was them?

They now admit that they kept the whole exchange a secret

Since Washington does not agree with ransom deals...mostly because we don't want to encourage kidnapping!

So...we didn't know they were out there....and they didn't comply with the troops.

Tragic...but not surprising

We fall all over ourselves when a car bomb kills soldiers or civillians.

"Someone should do something"

But then we expect our troops to somehow be clairvoyant

Ok - Houston

I must have put this in the wrong location....... My trouble now is under what catagory is it now?

ok, found it in legal and politicking......... Thanks

My point stands..........

Hmmmmmmmm........ Go figure ABC didn't have time yesterday to tell the whole story.... what a shock....

A communist news rag? Operation wasn't known by US Forces in area. Well, those 2 little items right there say a whole bunch of things to me. And to the troops "Well done men" To the very brave Italian Secret Service Agent - I honor you for your duty and dedication. To the mouth yap that thinks we were out to get her........ Shut the He** up and give thanks and praise to the agent whom gave his life for you. Let us hope that when the Italians carry out another secret mission they stop at our road blocks and say hi first. Maybe our embasy guy needs to meet with their embasy guy, do lunch and explain a war is in progress in Iraq. ;)

I know I have sounded a bit radical about this and how it was reported and you know what........ I stand firm and clear and don't change my mind one bit..... ;) Oh...... did I mention how much I enjoy the media's work?

OK........I know I went on about this too long...........sorry folks :D

I think if I were the Italian "intelligence" agent, I would have cut the checkpoint guards in on our "secret" rescue, and approached the checkpoint like it was a life or death situation, which it seems it certainly was.

This highly trained and talented Italian intelligence officer must have felt like a frickin' idiot the last moment of his life, to get ten seconds away from complete success, and not be able to negotiate a checkpoint that the goat herding boys can several times a day.

Artsmom - good point..... and true to the core...

artsmom has a real last sentence worth reading twice maybe twenty times........ just ashame it fell apart with the victory tape within a distance of a spit........ :(

Italians Shot

Like one of my heroes, one Jeff Cooper, I have no time nor patience for they who are enemies of my Country. Why did they not have an M-60 MG at the site?

update.........per my favorite ABC guy.......

This evening the anchor (sounds like something that gets tossed out and drags the bottom) anyhow..... this fella updated us citizens whom need help thinking for ourselves........ He let us know that the vehicle was now reported to have been doing up to 100 miles an hour,,,, and even hydro-planed on some of the puddles in the incident area. Wait..........there is more.....
The US Military Spokesperson says the investigation continues but appears NO wrong doing what so ever by troops. The vehicle was said to have been fired on by a tank too........Well, even the anchor's said the slightly damaged car doesn't have any sign of tank action. Wow, glad they told us and held our hands through this tough situation. I was so stressed since Sunday 8am when I first heard this report :barf: The photo shown looks like a few bullets hit the glass and a few in the skin of the car...... I feel bad our fella's couldn't get a few 40mm HE rounds on the vehicle so the media would have had some better photos. Ah........... I love the media and the hard work they do for us - what would we do without them? Ya - my thought exactly....... :D Oh, yes it's true the Italian's seemed to have forgotten or over looked the security check points..........
