Isn't it ironic...

Makes about as much sense as requiring everyone who owns a gun to keep a goldfish ('cause maybe that will make them kinder and more sensitive and then they won't go kill people with them...the guns, not the goldfish...).

So, would it be, necessarily, wrong to kill people with the goldfish?

I think there's something to it. I think it started with the national AWB. I don't know if the movement ended with the AWB sunsetting, or not, but I know that there are many autos still on the market that have 10-round mag capacities. I have a .40 caliber CZ100 that was designed to hold 10 rounds. Now that the AWB has expired, can I rush out and get a fourteen rounder? Nope. Wasn't ever designed, and there's no demand for an aftermarket hi-cap mag.

Ever notice when the .357 "more-than-six-shooters" started coming out?

If you look through the Taurus website, pistols like the 24/7 are offered as either "hi-cap" or as "ten-round" models. I realize full well that the 1911 platform has had it's adherents since the dawn of recorded history, but I think it's not a coincidence that the SA 1911 literally erupted into greated prominence when people figured out, "As long as I can carry only ten rounds of whatever size, I can just as easily carry eight really big ones..."

The older I get, the more human stupidity amazes me. You'd think it would wear off, but nope.

Albert Einstein is reported to have said, "There are only two things that are truly infinite. The universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not too sure about the universe..."

Careful, Springmom. I'm the proud owner of 8 HUMONGOUS goldfish that I keep in a 30 gallon tank at home. (Large-calibur goldfish?!?) I'm fast-approaching the 10 goldfish limit, here. You don't want to get me banned! :D :p :D

So, KD5NRH, how many goldfish can YOU legally carry???

Samurai is trying to get the old fish carry thread started up again :D
(If you don't know what I'm talking about, do a search for the guy that got beat up by his g/f wielding a fish)

Anyway, I didn't know states still had magazine round limits. I thought all that expired? Oh well, I think the shift to bigger calibers (if there really is much of one) is because of the numerous reports, rumors, casual conversations where someone says the 9 is ok, but the.45 is what you really want. People that are new to guns or CC want something that's gonna stop something or someone, and since there are several packages for .357,.40, and .45 that are all types friendly, they're easier to sell. That would be my guess.

New York is one such state (as is CA), which retardly still has a 10 round limit. Which means my old 92F mags which hold 15 rounds are legal, but my new 13 round Cougar mags (if I had any ;) ) aren't. Sucks butt.

Pinky - I can carry concealed via a permit system.

MY thinking has been...during/after ban - no sense in buying 9mm, cause the advantage of comparable higher capacity is usually mute; AND don't bother buying service size guns which can only legally hold 10 rounds (i.e. the big 14rnd XD45). 1911s have been a top choice for me, as are compact pieces like the P2000, P99, Cougar. Usually only lose a round or 2, and they fit just right.

What matters now though is as the gun gets compact, the recoil typically goes up, and so 9mm looks attractive again with the current ammo.

I did 'remember' I do have 15 rnd 92f mags from my cop days, so a (large) 92F to go with my CX4 is a reasonable purchase somewhere along the way.
