There were some belt fed shotguns made prior to WW2 or Korea, I forget that looked a lot like a Lewis gun but on a tripod and with a true belt not a top drum that they were experimenting with for POW or DOC prisons...
There was also a Gatling style 7 barrel shotgun made prior to the Spanish American War that the navy experimented with for their river boats...
Neither made it IIRC past the experimental stage but I could see both being employed today in the original and somewhat different applications...Bean bags, tear gas, Mace or rubber bullets for riot control...I think the problem was the cycling rate of the belt fed and ammo supply for the Gatling...
