Is there such a thing as a double-barreled pump action (or auto-loader) shotgun? I've seen some home mods of a left and right shotgun put together but are there any commercial versions?

I saw a vid on a double bolt but not a double shotgun I figure though if it can be done on one it can be done on the other.

Fuch's will build you a double anything. They catalog a double 375 H&H magnum. Six shot boltaction double rifle. I would think they will build a double bolt shotgun for you if you asked them to (they would be very happy to).
By the way the price starts at about $200,000.00 and go's up from there.

In the 1870's a fellow in the UK experimented with and patented a double barrel repeating shotgun. It took two spare cartridges immediatly beneath the actions. Apparently worked well and saved people buying a pair and relying on natives to hang around when you needed a second gun...

Enjoy

I think you could do this with Ithaca M37's also.

Sam that's the one I was talking about. There's video of it too.

jaguar: I'll just call Fuch's up after I get back to the mainland from my private island.

I guess if I want it, I'll just have to design it and get it commercialized myself!

Now why would someone want a double barrel over a 3+1 capacity pump action?

Because a high-quality double doesn't feel like holding a piece of rough-hewn lumber? Perhaps because the swing dynamics are so superior? Or maybe because they prefer the style and the looks to something that looks like you use it to jack up your car to change a flat tire.................

That would be a difficult part... What would be the demand for a 12+ pound $1,000+ dollar gun when you can buy a 12 round semi auto 12 gauge?

That thing is damn ulgy and kinda creepy..... I can only think you'll get on heck of a finger rub/scratch/burn trying to reach to the other trigger.

Semi auto
two barrels
one trigger
either staggered mag wells to allow for two drums or two tubes. Belt fed would be nice...

The two barrels is optional.

Actually why aren't there belt fed semi-auto shotguns. I bet there would be more of a market than for the belt fed semi-auto converted rifles. Bottom up disintegrating belt...

I think placing the tubes facing back might be good for weighting in a double repeater design. That front end would otherwise be really hefty. Would probably load with a pull then, which would be weird and difficult on a semi-auto.

Might help with recoil on a semi-auto though.

Thinking more about it you would need two pistons/gas tubes. One to eject and one to load the next round moving in opposite directions with the eject gas hole closer to the chamber so it went first. If it didn't go you would get some sort of double feed terribleness. Attaching the two by a chain could solve the problem, but I don't like that idea.

I would not touch a gun like this unless it had one trigger that alternated between barrels. I do not want to be shooting both barrels all the time. Maybe a feed shutoff like on the Auto 5 would solve that problem.
