Make mine .40 or bigger
I'm a middle-aged coot (48) and just today I got out the Taurus .44 special snubby and carried it. I would prefer a 6 shot cylinder, but I'd rather have 5 rounds of .44 special than 6 rounds of .38 special.
My wife's home alone gun is a 4" S&W model 25 mountain gun in .45 Colt; I normally carry a .45 auto (Glock, H&K USP, SIG P220 or Kimber 1911) but would not hesitate to carry a revolver, as long as the caliber starts with the number "4."
I have carried my 4 inch S&W model 29, loaded with .44 special Silvertip HPs on occasion, too. IMHO, I'll always take a .40 or larger caliber gun - revolver or auto - over the midsize caliber guns.
IMHO, caliber is more important than total number of bullets on tap.
