This is the first time I've heard it described as a "crush" and I think that word describes it very well. My wife, however, calls it an "obsession." Pretty close.
I've had some close calls with this obsession, too.
One thing you must try to avoid is buying the same gun twice. I mean the exact same gun, not just a second one. It would be like getting married to the same woman a second time, which a few people have done. But I suppose it would be a cure for seller's remorse.
The other thing that, in theory (because life is short), should be avoided, is to buy a second one of something you already have, but I understand that is done, too. I've only done that once when I somehow would up with two five-inch barrelled M&P revolvers. The second one was in better shape than the first one and, anyway, something like that is good for practicing two gun shooting.
I just can't imagine anyone ever owning two identical automatics--but I came that close to getting a second Walther P-99.
