Is the Smith and Wesson M&P M2.0 a mistake?

It's not a biggie to me nor a reason to buy one. I'm just as happy with Traction/Talon grips on my 1.0 versions.

A secondary reason is it was a striker and in general, I like hammer fired guns a lot better

Well, the Plastic M&P is certainly striker fired, so why pursue it?

Me? I am quite happy with my "1.0" and they do not yet make a 2.0 in the configuration I would be interested in.

For guys like the reviewer of the Ruger American, who almost fainted when the trigger dingle sank BELOW the trigger face and the two resulting edges attempted to rape his trigger finger, yes that texture is certainly going to be a problem. For the rest of us ? Not much of an issue. It's not like an uncomfortable steering wheel that you must put up with for a 18 hour road trip.

I have been reading a lot of positive reports about the M&P 2.0. I tried one and for me I have an issue with the trigger reach and that the trigger breaks way far back which makes it difficult for me to shoot it consistently accurately. I have larger hands. Hopefully I can find a way to try it with the largest grip on to see if that resolves the issue for me or not. Other than that it seems to be an excellent pistol at an excellent price point.

Forgot to mention that as well. I had noticed that as well. Having has a surgery on my trigger finger, it at actually doesn't go as far back on my right as it does on my left.
The Apex flat trigger that I installed eliminates that as an issue and actually brings the trigger shoe much farther out than the factory one.

Well does he mean the slide cutouts or the small serrations? On the 2.0 the slide cutouts for weight go back pretty far. The small serrations are there for people that like them. However, by pointing them only at the bottom of the slide you run the problem where if you tried to use them to completely rack the slide your fingers will run into the part of the frame that is flush with the slide and then these small serrations are somewhat pointless. You can, however, use them to do press checks if you use your offhand over the top of the slide.

What is the point of the two indentations above the rail?
On the right side of the frame, they contain the serial number and 3d barcode. I'm not sure why they exist on the left side. They may accommodate certain accessories, but I'm not sure.

Feng shui.
If one slide side had 'em & the other didn't, the slide would be out of balance and the existential harmony of the gun would be disturbed.

I found the grip texturing to be really rough (aggressive), which I believe will be a negative for many buyers.

Actually contemplated trading or selling my pre 2.0 Shield 9mm after hearing of the features of the new 2.0 , especially the grip texture. I bought a 45 Shield not long after the 9mm last year and just loved the grip texture! And I have fairly wimpy hands! I decided to give the Talon peel and stick grips a try and now have decided to keep my 9mm Shield.
