Is the "SigPro" series a complete flop?

Sig Pro failure? You're NUTS!

First, I own a new H&K USP full size .40 and love it. I rented an endless number of guns and calibers before I bought anything. Once I settled for the .40 as my first gun, I rented even more .40's. It was almost a toss-up between my H&K and the Sig Pro 2340.

The Sig Pro was great, dead accurate, smooth and seemed highly reliable. I believe their line without question will turn out to be a big winner in the market in the near future as the reputation increases. The Sig Pro could very well be my next gun in the .40 first then after-market drop-in 357sig barrels. So why did I go with H&K (a more expensive gun) if I liked the Sig Pro so much?

Easy. As much as I liked the Sig Pro, I seemed to shoot the H&K even better. Maybe it was the sights, feel, weight or whatever unique to me, but as well as I shot the 2340, I shot the USP full size .40 even better. Also, H&K has a lifetime warranty, Sig does not. But make no mistake, the Sig Pro is a serious (if not yet popular) winner.

I guess I ended up taking the good advice of so many more experienced than me - go with what is most comfortable, what you are most confident with and what you shoot the best.

NM
They are identical except the 2009s are cut off and plugged. ;) I'm not even sure anyone stocks the 9mm mags.

I think that most people who say "they are a flop" hasn't shot one. Everybody over at www.SIGForum.com who owns one (or more) absolutely loves them. The trigger is a work of art on a production gun -- they are even smoother than the Classic series triggers. Also, the gun doesn't feel like a plastic toy either -- it actually feels like a substantial gun that you can sink you teeth into. Not to bash on Glock, HK, Walther (P99 is my next gun), etc... they are all fine weapons, but the Pro gets a lot of bad press for nothing.

Yeah, the 10-rounds of 9mm is a drag, but remember that the standard capacity is what, 13 rounds? A whole 2 more rounds in the LE capacity mags for the 40 and 357SIG versions isn't enough to make me whine.

A buddy of mine told me he was going to buy a 2340 with nite sites for $400 from a guy at work. I immediately told him how bad people said they SUCKED and told him to make sure he checked it out thoroughly before he bought it.

To my initial embarrassment, he said he had been the first person to ever shoot it when his buddy bought it, and he ABSOLUTELY LOVED it. It was only 3 months old with 2 range trips under it's belt. Then, to my EXTREME embarrassment, I went shooting with him side by side with my USP40.... Hell, if it wasn't for the fact that I've got so much money in pre-ban USP mags, and that I'm a die-hard leftie, I'd want one! SWEEEET trigger!

The only thing worse than having to apologize for saying "it sucks, the internet said so" is to apologize twice, and both times, my buddy didn't even comment back! :o At least if he'd said "no big deal" it would have indicated that MAYBE he didn't think I was a complete idiot???

Doesn't fill a niche? A P-series Sig goes for $700+ new. A SigPro used is $400-$450. If it doesn't fill a niche for you, be happy that you are prosperous enough.
I do not expect the same gun for the money. That would be completely unreasonable. And with all the complaints about the SigPro, is it really any worse than the other guns in the same price range? Absolutely not.

Hmmm

Sounds like it definitely has it's pluses, value and looks being the top ones, esp. value.

I only thought it may be a flop because every other day there's a "which handgun" thread, and the 220 et al classics are recommended over and over, and I rarely if ever see the sigpro recommended.

First off, I have no real opinion pro or con on the Sig Pro. That being said, do you really expect to find a bunch of negative opinions on them on the SIGForum??? That's like looking for negative opinions on Glocks in GlockTalk! :D
