Is The Sig P250 THAT Bad?

Riggins- ruger lcr has a nice pull for a carry pistol, a colt python has a sweet pull for target shooting. All depends on what the gun is used for. Wouldn't use the python for cc and wouldn't use a snubby at 20 yards at the range

Resurrecting this thread

I wanted to say that I recently got a wig p250 compact. The trigger takes time to get used to but once mastered it is as accurate as any other sig. I think it screams quality and has the best ergos of most any pistol I've held. It also trains you to be a better shooter too.

I was a better shot with all my other guns after shooting the p250. It may not be the best or prettiest or nicest running gun, but it's still a Sig. Gotta love those bright contrast sights too. I got mine for $310.

Aside from the trigger, is the gun a reliable platform?

Does it have that "to hell and back reliabilty" that's synonymous with Sig Sauer?

Is it something that you would trust your life with?

I had one for a while and liked it well enough (.40 compact and 9mm kit). I didn't have any issues with reliability, it was a comfortable gun to shoot and pretty accurate.

I just had a tendency to short stroke the long reset on the trigger and ultimately traded it in for a Glock 21.

I wouldn't choose it again due to the trigger BUT if I had trust my life to one, I wouldn't be worried about it.

I've shot a couple of full sized 250's 9mm & 45acp. I've also shot a couple of 320's in 9mm.

IMHO the 320 turns EVERY 250 into a truck gun.

I love mine, but then again, I am a big fan of (true) DAO handguns, having lots of exposure to revolvers as a kid, and then predominantly carrying DAO & DA/SA pistols.

The only reason I'm not carrying the P250 in rotation with my CZ 100 and PX4D is simple; my holster hadn't arrived yet when I came back to work! Hahahahahaha

The double action trigger works well for me but I shoot revolvers and one of my carry guns is an LC9. The LC9 ain't a target gun but works quite well out to 15 yards, as well as a 642 revolver. I shoot a 625 D/A about as well as a 1911 but the reload is slower. It does take practice to shoot a D/A gun.

The 250 trigger is pretty fantastic for a DAO. What I don't understand is why they didn't put that trigger into the 290, which I think came out three years after the 250. I loved everything about the 290 except the trigger. It was bad enough that I got a Kahr PM9 instead, even though I preferred just about everything else about the 290.

Of course, I also wonder why Ruger doesn't just put the friction-reducing LCR trigger into their steel-framed revolvers.

The trigger is the only complaint I have. Otherwise it's a good gun.

That and the fact that the subcompact .40 is very hard to shoot. But I'm a 9mm guy anyways, so other experiences may differ

I have been really happy with my P250C in 9mm. Have over 500rds thru, and not a single problem. Once I got used to staging the trigger, it has become one of my best shooters. It is in my carry rotation, along with my PX4's.

I'm not a fan of staging DA triggers. It makes sense if it's heavy and stacks at the end, but the 250's is really smooth and light.

I checked out a P250 at a LGS a week or two ago and. Having read several reviews mentioning it's horrible trigger, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it felt.

I can see where it wouldn't fit someone who likes a short reset, or who thinks a Glock trigger is the standard by which all others should be measured, but it was by far the best DA trigger pull I've tried in a semi-auto. I'm probably not going to rush out and buy one, but I was impressed.

This makes me want to try out a P320. If the P250 trigger is this nice, the (supposedly vastly superior) P320 trigger must be something to behold.

It's only bad for people who think strikers are the standard by which all triggers are judged, and that any deviation is an abomination. I think a true DAO trigger has its place, and the 250 is outstanding at it.

The 320 trigger is not better than the 250. It is very short, crisp, and light - it's excellent if that's what you're looking for. As was discussed to death on the Bob Owens thread, there are many (including myself) do not feel comfortable with something that short and light without a manual safety.

I prefer a smooth DA/SA in a carry gun, but failing that, a good DAO is perfectly acceptable. The 250 is a great DAO.

I have a P250 compact in 40sw and I won't part with it. Also it's my carry piece and I trust it to perform when needed. I feel safe carrying it too knowing that the long trigger makes it hard for accidental discharges. After shooting 1000s rounds through it I don't even notice the trigger.

I took a conceal carry class with it and I scored high, most in 5 points, a few in 4 points and two in 3 points. The 3 and 4 pointers came from shooting at 15 yards, not so easy. :)

At 3 and 7 yards, no problem. :D

I find the trigger reset to be too long but, if I work with it a bit, I've been able to do well with it. I don't think there's anything wrong with them.

I have had a Sig P250c 9mm for a few years, it is my favorite carry pistol. It is as good as any, and better than most. Gock guys love to bash it, but you can't get a glock leg when re-holstering this pistol.

Wasn't the old version of P250 what the FBI rejected?

Isn't the latest version basically the same as the P320 except for the trigger system?
