Is the P7M8 really worth a grand?

The points everyone makes on the P7 cover most of its appeal.

The bottom line on the P7 is this. With very little training, anyone can shoot this gun accurately--its accuracy is in a different and higher league from anything other than a custom tuned 1911 or a Sig 210--and this from a pistol with a form factor closer to a Walther PPK, and straight out of the box. The P7 is both simpler and more intuitive to shoot once one has had it explained, and difficult to figure out when it's never been explained--safety in a grab situation is the best. It has a nice big handle and a tiny slide--about as difficult to grab as a snubby revolver. It's skinny and has no protruding levers--easy to carry. It points naturally. It has the best safety system. Granted, it could be lighter (HK, are you listening?), but it isn't THAT heavy--a few oz. heavier than other compact major caliber defensive handguns. Women absolutely love it--don't ever let your wife or girlfriend try a P7 if you want her to remain happy with her 38 special. Most of all, the thing is all case hardened steel. It's made to last a lifetime, and it does.

There are many great pistols on the market. The P7 happens to be the best and most versatile for defensive use. Since if you buy one you'll probably lose your interest in a number of other guns you own (and hence sell them), it may, as it has for others, even leave you with a net sum gain financially.

If I made my living as a custom pistolsmith, I'd hate the P7. What can you do to it to make it better? The P7 always works! I have never had to hold it a certain way to avoid jams or feed it a certain brand of ammunition for reliability and accuracy. It's the only auto I've ever owned that has never malfunctioned. It's easily worth the price!

Other advantages the P7M8 has. 1 the trigger travels back forward when released making it the best gun I've seen for dry firing ,compared to the Glock, Sig, Colt, etc. 2 how many guns do you see on both the list of the most accurate and the one you can shoot the most before wearing it out. 3 People compare it to shooting the P210 and yet it is still easy to conseal. 4 If lightning (etc) strikes you in the middle of putting your loaded firearm in a safe place It is almost impossible for you child 6 or under to compress the 20 lb squeeze necessary to shoot the pistol with their small hands

In my opion you havn't shot a P7 until you shoot the P7M8. The P7M13 grip is too big for most people.

The only thing I could think of to improve on it was putting a bigger chamfer on the mag well which saved me about a half second a reload.

Best Regards
Sam

Couldn't agree more MRW! I have owned a lot of handguns. Bullseye only, Glocks, Smiths, 1911, etc and the P7M8 is the overall choice for defense. It does not equal a tuned 1911 at the 50 yard line, but that is not it's intention. Try it you will like it, but it does have an effect on the gunsafe. The other defense guns will sit or go away. Just my opinion.
BTW Sam will you be shooting tonight? Nice magwell job.

Hey, you been looking in my safe. :p

I couldn't agree more.
Not only do my other pistols just sit there but more and more P7s have been finding there way in. ;)

yes it is worth it!

what else can i say but that i love my P7M8! all the pros and cons have been covered.

the P7M8 is an excellent defensive weapon. it is built for that purpose...to get u out of a dangerous situation. if u stick around to fire more than 3 mags through ur gun, then i think u r in serious trouble and in need of a long gun. most gunfights involving handguns don't go through more than a dozen rounds...on both sides. so the heating of the heat sheild isn't that much of an issue IMHO. :D

The P-7 has proven to eject empties WITH A BROKEN EXTRACTOR..no b.s. buy one to shoot...buy one to get dusty in your safe. and slow down cause under that trigger guard can actually BURN you..I have done it blasting away with fast reloads.
