The points everyone makes on the P7 cover most of its appeal.
The bottom line on the P7 is this. With very little training, anyone can shoot this gun accurately--its accuracy is in a different and higher league from anything other than a custom tuned 1911 or a Sig 210--and this from a pistol with a form factor closer to a Walther PPK, and straight out of the box. The P7 is both simpler and more intuitive to shoot once one has had it explained, and difficult to figure out when it's never been explained--safety in a grab situation is the best. It has a nice big handle and a tiny slide--about as difficult to grab as a snubby revolver. It's skinny and has no protruding levers--easy to carry. It points naturally. It has the best safety system. Granted, it could be lighter (HK, are you listening?), but it isn't THAT heavy--a few oz. heavier than other compact major caliber defensive handguns. Women absolutely love it--don't ever let your wife or girlfriend try a P7 if you want her to remain happy with her 38 special. Most of all, the thing is all case hardened steel. It's made to last a lifetime, and it does.
There are many great pistols on the market. The P7 happens to be the best and most versatile for defensive use. Since if you buy one you'll probably lose your interest in a number of other guns you own (and hence sell them), it may, as it has for others, even leave you with a net sum gain financially.
