Is my Hornady Press a Bomb?

I’ve been debating making the jump to a Hornady progressive from a Lee Classic Turret. Just not too sure how I feel about the primer system. I don’t use the garbage lee primer feeder. I place each primer in the priming arm one by one from a flip tray.

The Hornady works, but lacks feel for cup pressure against case. You will not make super accurate loads. Good enough for 90% of my loads. Probable good enough for anything except a bolt rifle with a custom barrel.

Shoving on that lever to seat primers makes everything move.

You seem pretty sharp, so you probably caught this. The system needs cleaned and dry lube on a regular basis. Also slivers of ?? get caught in the priming system.

Last, any issue you report to Hornady should get a new part coming your way. My old version is pretty smooth and square. Have to keep up on PM’s though.

The powder measure accuracy would likely be at least as good as the turret currently in use. No matter the brand, it is not going to compete with trickle charging on an accurate scale.
