Is my collection really incomplete?

Interesting perspective. I have 2 Italian Berettas w/ hi-caps I rarely take out anymore. I guess I could pick up a couple of Mec-gars for range use ;)

I have mixed emotions about getting rid of guns I rarely use. I personally go thru periods where certain types or calibers get most of my attention, only to fade away when something else catches my eye. I guess my problem is that I want to experience the joy of having tried a lot of different ones instead of just one or two. For a while it was .22 rifles (older ones of course), then pistols, then .45's. etc. What I try to do is build my collection gradually, then weed out anything which I find myself NEVER using. I also try to keep at least one type of everything (ie..1911) so when that bug hits again I don't have to start over. A good friend of mine has probably went thru at least 100 various guns thru the years, but alas he has only about 3-4 at any given time. Only when money is tight would I consider getting rid of something just to be getting rid of something.....:D

I like having a 1911 in my collection. Its like having a piece of history. I also like my colt cowboy. Both are guns from a different era and are fun to plink with. Would I carry them no. But they are fun obsolete plinkers.

Every time i see an USP i want to bring it home, adopt it. Since they're quite expensive here, i've only managed to own 4 so far (including an extremely expensive Mark 23).

Having said that, normally there's always a "next gun" on my list. Now it's a P7 but it should be an .40 Expert.

If you have a "next on your list" but you can make up your mind about letting go the 1911a1, why don't you go for the "next gun" first and get rid of the 1911a1 right after you get your new gun. That way it won't hurt that much parting with it.

BTW, i had a 1911 clone that i sold but eventually another found it's way to my collection.

Recognize these double taps?

1) BOOM!-shunk, BOOM!-shunk
2) slip-POW! slip-POW!
3) BAM!-slick, BAM!-slick
4) BANG!-chink, BANG!-chink
5) BAM!-ker-chunk, BAM!-ker-chunk

See the list below. I agree that by most standards it is an incomplete list, but it works for me.

Keep what you enjoy and bag the rest. My collection is NOT well rounded. I don't care about many kinds of firearms. I get and keep what I want and dispose of the rest. My collection is now very boring. I have several of each gun I like and nothing else. Whatever. Watch-Six

I'm a USP fan

...as well, but something in me still pushes me towards a nice Kimber. Maybe it's the fact that I learned to shoot on a GI 1911A1?

Darn things have that whole legend and service history pulling one towards them.

I ended up picking up a stainless 1991a1 and have turned it into a project. Next step is to convert it into 45 super ;) Told myself I didn't want to pick up one of these money pits, but it is basically a labor of obsession.

Keep it. If you don't have a 1911, you can't put a Springfield Armory S.A.S,S. on it to make a Hand Rifle. Everyone needs a Hand Rifle! Some people need more than one. Personally, I need as many as possible. ;) :D ;)
