Is it just me?

I love revolvers, thats how I got started. However, I also love semi autos and find them to be just as much to look at. To me Sig's and snub nose revolvers are the Bee's Knees.

I guess we all have our thing.Like for me,I like revolvers, but not big or long ones,I just really like the snubs.I love 2" and 3" barreled revolvers, and I only really like .22s,.38s and .357s:D

Would it be unfair to make a musical comparison? As a revolver guy I think of them as a classic belt drive turntable that plays 1 record at a time. Elegant and simple design that follows perfect function.

While the auto is like a changer that stacks records just so they can shoot a few more bullets at 1 time. More parts and less elegant. Don't get me wrong Mr. Browning's design (the 1911) for close in military fighting is a masterpiece of engineering. Just one man's interpretation (or 2 cents).

I carry an auto because it's thin and easier to conceal (at least the ones I have are), but a revolver is a thing of beauty to me. That's not something I grew up with either. My father is 80, and I've never known him to have a revolver, but he's had several autos.

Old fart checkin in (52), dont feel like one as along as I stay away from the mirrors....

Anyway, I love my 38 SW Chiefs special! The way it feels in my hand :). A little to bulky to carry in the warm weather so I keep a Ruger LCP for warmer weather carry.;)

KreyzHorse hit the nail on the head- I carry a semi auto, but the prized weapons I own that I will pass on to my kids are my revolvers. In my case, I'd include on the prized list my O/U Ithaca 12GA that I got from MY father...

if crocodile dundee carried,and someone pulled a glock,I bet he'd pull a huge ss revolver and say"that's not a gun,now that's a gun"

Revolvers or semi autos?

Good question. I just love 'em both!

However, if I could exclude two of my 1911's from the comparison, (yeah, I know that isn't fair, but they are my two favorite handguns) I would choose revolvers over other semi autos any day of the week.

Years ago, all I wanted to collect were the semi automatics (in any caliber for that matter). But as I learned more and more about guns and how they functioned, etc. the revolvers started taking over my collection more and more.

In my opinion, they are safer for the average person handling and firing a handgun. Why? Because you can see the bullets and know it is loaded at any time. This is an important factor if you don't handle your pistols on a regular basis. They are probably more reliable in SD situations, (all you have to do is aim and pull the trigger). No safeties to worry about and you don't have to rack the slide to jack a round in the chamber. Just aiming and pulling the trigger is faster most of the time. Also, (for the average person who does not shoot a lot) there is less to be concerned about with a revolver, (as compared to an automatic). For example: Problems with magazines, jams, dirty actions, out of battery, etc). If you become very familiar with your semi auto handguns and shoot/clean them on a regular basis, they are excellent choices for a handgun. If not, then the revolver is probably your best choice in the long run for a self defense weapon.

I just really like all types of revolvers and am really into the stainless steel versions nowadays. As my good friend always tells me, "Unless you are in law enforement, if you need more than 6 shots to do the job, you are in trouble anyway"... Of course there are exceptions to this rule but you get the point he is trying to make.

My two model 1911's? Well they are and will always be, my two favorites, no matter what. But like I said, I am not putting them in the comparison.....

I have 4-1 wheel guns over semi-autos. Carry about the same in an auto as I do revolvers though. Like revolvers mainly because I handload and it sure is easier to find the brass.

I like semi-autos because they interesting, a revolver is a revolver to me...I like them well enough but they don't hold my interest much past their weight. I ask to see one, I do the ole up and down jig once it's in my hand, I cock it, I pull the trigger and give it back. A good auto now that's another story. You pick it up doo the weight jig, cycle it lock it open inspect the goodies inside, eject the mag, check out the safety(s) and if you're lucky it has an exposed hammer. I have 3 or 4 pistols I still want to buy a nice ultralight revolver is on the list, looking is half the fun IMHO.

Lots of feedback, glad to see I'm not alone. Like I said revolvers just call to me. I have a new one on layaway and fear I'll put another one on layaway when i pay for the current one:o I keep saying I'm done for the year, but.......

Pushing 60 in september.Have both but the only gun i won't sell is my ruger security six 357 mag.So i guess it's REVOLVERS.:D
