Is H&K USP 45 Tactical really that much better than a USP 45?

I understand where you guys are coming from telling me to save my money and go with the USP. But it's one of those want issues.
Well I have chosen the Tac. and here are my reasons. If I bought the USP and wanted a match trigger and adj. sights , then those 2 additions alone would make the overall price very close to the Tac. price. Someday I may want the silencer (when I can afford it) and just to be picky the O-ring with the small barrel extension may give the edge to the Tac. in accuracy. But I don't know that for a fact. I really like the way the Tac. feels in my hand.
The only issue that I have been debating is the carry issue. The Tac. is no gun to be carried. If I am going to pay that much then I would like to get max use out the gun.
But I guess that means more trips to the range!!:D
Thanks to all who replied, I value your info.

As a full-size USP owner, trust me when I say you wouldn't be carrying the USP either. The compact maybe (just maybe -- they aren't terribly small either), but not the standard USP unless you were carrying openly. You'll love the Tactical. I am insanely jealous of my friend since he got one. Guess I'll have to get a Les Baer to salve my bruised ego.

I had a Tac when they first came out but couldnt get used to those damn high profile sights...I had an HK USP 45c in stainless that was much more accurate then the Tac...I sold it like a dumbass...I'm thinking about getting another compact 45 model...They're pretty sweet...

As a full-size USP owner, trust me when I say "Stick it in a Ky-Tac Braveheart and you can carry it with no problem."

Umm, no

Q: is the Tactical really much better?

No. And I don't like the huge sights at all. O-ring adds a little more accuracy if you're shooting Bullseye, but very few people would choose this for bullseye over a tuned 1911 with a "good" trigger.

I had the $100 trigger upgrade added to my USP. Makes a difference, although the DA still sucks big-time. Still awful creep and the worse stacking I've ever seen on any gun, anywhere. As someone else observed, the USP DA trigger makes a cheap Ruger seem like a tuned custom.

The Expert... Well, I really do like the longer slide and the trigger seems a bit lighter and more refined than the Tactical, but that may just be subjective. At that price you can get a USP basic, that Wolff spring, AND a Kimber Custom Classic.

USPs, like Glocks, are good $500-600 guns. They are not great values when the price approaches or exceeds $1000.
