Is a single stack enough?

Brit, your 2 lb gun is less than 1% of your body weight, my friend. ;-)

You are right! It is something to do with the Germans, they bombed my School! At night, went in the next day, burned out! Not sure how that worked out, Temp Rooms at the local Grammer School? And a Library? I used to watch the fire fights over Liverpool Docks! 8 miles away.
We had a Spitfire secret base half a mile from my Dad's Pub. 8-year-olds can jump walls! We got chased a few times me and my little Buddy Eddie! His house was a hole in the ground one day. With sticks and rope around it.

Gosh, Brit - that's some serious stuff!

I didn't read through ALL the replies, and I'm sure someone already said it - but I'll say it, too.

Depends on how many times, and where you hit your intended target. If they get shot in the face with one round I'm sure that's gonna be plenty. =)

It comes from being born in 1935 in Liverpool UK! And at 81 YOA, I don't feel old?
Just so happy to still being in the land of Roy Rogers/Gene Autry/ Chrome plated Colt 45s!
Six Penny Sat. matinees. What wonderful times to be alive!

The fact that 200 miles away is a monster Hurricane not withstanding!

After thinking this through I see the following scenarios...

1) No gun needed
2) Gun needed no shots fired
3) Single stack shots enough (ie 1-6 shots end it)
4) Double stack needed (7-15 shots)
5) More than 15 shots needed, multiple reloads.

I guess the question is, what are the chances of being in each of those scenarios?

For me personally, the chance of me ever needing a gun are essentially near zero. If I needed it, I would be the extreme outlier. This is based on where I live, what I do, where I go for entertainment, etc. The only time I see myself ever needing a double stack or more are during a mass shooter type situation and unfortunately since I work at a university, I have to think about and plan for it (and I can't carry there). Otherwise, I think the only time I would need a gun would be a mugging type situation. To each his own though as there are no right answers here. Obviously more is always better but as we all know most of the time if a gun is needed 6 shots is plenty. The stats only work against you when you are the outlier. So are you planning for the 99% chance or are you planning for the outlier scenario? Again, there is no right answer here, its up to each of us to decide.

I think that's true for the vast majority ot people, bu its has absolutely nothing to do with the question at hand,

Bad assumption. Have you read the thread?

....since I work at a university...
Would it be possible for you to attack a statistics course?

...as we all know most of the time if a gun is needed 6 shots is plenty.
From what did you reach that conclusion?

When you absolutely positively must have a slim handgun for concealment purposes then a single stack is fine. I've tried every single stack from a Shield to a Walther PPS, and the one that came out on top for me in the Sig P938. It just conceals better than other other single stack I've tried.
