Is a new Taurus model 85 worth buying?

I had good luck with an older stainless 85CH (wood grip). Taurus quality varies wildly. Best bet is to print out a copy of Jim March's revolver checkout and use it. Treat even a new gun as suspect. If it passes everything, you most likely got a good one.

A friend carried a Taurus Model 85 bobbed hammer for years with the Birami (was that the maker?) "Hip Grip." A protection of the right upper grip panel allowed "Mexican Carry" stuffed into the pants.

He carried it on the job like this. He delivered and set up magazines to local stores.
