Is 185gr +P in .45 a wise choice

In my HK USP Compact, I carry the Federal Hydrashok 185+P round. Fast, reliable, accurate.

Strangely enough, the Fiocchi round in 230 shoots similar to the Federal 185+P in practice.

I was wondering the same thing, so I went downstairs and shot my feet with a Remington GS 185+p, and a 230 HS. Both of my feet hurt alot. I think either will do the job. Where is that neosporin when you need it.

In our duty guns, for the Officers who carry .45s we issue 230 grain Federal Hydrashocks, but for my off duty Kimber Custom Combat Carry Model (similar to a Light weight Commander) I prefer the Remington 185 gr JHP Plus Ps.

More on the RBCD. I had their gun show hand out in my pocket.

45s get a choice of 155gr @ 1650fps or 90gr @ 2036.
The bullets are some kind of polymer blend.
Whatever they are, at those speeds I don't think they will have a lot of trouble being able to fragment! :D

Im my S&W 945 I user Ranger SXT's 230 gr +P However in my G 30 I use Magsafe 68 gr Super Swat Loads - 2300 Fps @ 771 FT / lbs .. Now thats power :)

I only use HydraShok 230's in all of my 45's. I honestly don't see much difference in recoil in my Officer's ACP between 185's and 230's. Not until you get into the +P loadings. Then the recoil can get pretty stout. I settled on the Hydra Shoks because they feed flawlessly" the new style bullet" and are satisfyingly accurate in all of my pistols.

The only +P 45 acp loads I use are the Hornady custom 230 jhp+P mainly because they are very accurate in my 5" Colt.
