Interested in buying a .22, not sure where to start?

I like the Marlin model 60 or model 990, they are tube fed but hold more rounds and cost less then the Ruger 10/22 .The Marlin .22 auto is just a very good rifle all around. :)

Rugerfreak: I have heard that one before, but, let's hope that this time it is for real. I love the rifle. If I would quit buying other stuff and instead buy a scope for the T/C, I would shoot it a lot more. In fact I need about a half dozen scopes. Most for .22s. I like Leupold but it takes me awhile to save for each one.

What does the tube feed offer over a clip? Also, is there much difference in accuracy between a bolt and a auto .22? I like the bolt action, but wouldn't mind not taking the time to reload myself.

By the way, thanks for all the great info, you all have been very helpfull.

tube fed is a fixed tube under the barrel that holds a certain amount. 13 .22LR, 20 .22SHORTS....(typical) you also load one round in at a time when filling the tube.

a magazine can be removed. the factory mags can hold 5-10, but for 10/22 they have mags that hold up to 30, and you can buy a bunch fill them all at once then just change mags out as you go...till you have to reload again. There is also a speed loader for 10/22 mags that make it really nice!

Bolt is generally more accurate than a semi-auto. because there are no moving parts during fire. in a semi-auto as it fires the bolt starts moving back causing some variance in the aim.(it is very very little but can be noticed)

Keep in mind that "they" don't make 30 round 10/22 mags anymore. The manufacture of mags with a capacity greater than 10 rounds has been banned. You can still buy them however. Most of these aftermarket 10/22 mags are made of plastic, cheap plastic at that and are selling for right around $100 a pop. Thank you to our goverment "representitves".
