Nikita Khrushchev predicted confidently in a speech in Bucharest, Rumania on June 19, 1962 that: " The United States will eventually fly the Communist Red Flag...the American people will hoist it themselves."

"Our program works to change policies that allows (sic) for an uncontrolled flow of guns"

What policies are those? Guns are federally controlled.

Hey, i'm HIP... I help to increase the peace. I have a job, i take care of my property, i keep a gun to protect myself and other innocents near by from those who will not be HIP. :p

"... I rejoice that America has resisted [The Stamp Act]. Three millions of people, so dead to all feelings of liberty as to voluntarily submit to being slaves, would have been fit instruments to make slaves of the rest of us." -- William Pitt, British Parliament, December 1765

I don't even have to click on the links.

I got a perfect understanding of Folkbabe from her User Name and her posts. Folkbabe and her tribe are committed "do-gooders" who believe they can change the cruel, cold, heartless world with good thoughts and good intentions. Nobody is really bad, just unloved and misunderstood. People like her often end up on police reports after taking in criminals and attempting to "reform" them.

She's not overtly anti-freedom, she's just living in her la-la land of gumdrops and unicorns and the real nature of the world is just too much for her to bear.

I wrote them a polite email asking what is meant by "uncontrolled flow". I did point out a few facts as to existing controls...

You'll notice her arguments were poorly thought out, although thought about a lot. (You can't necessarily equate motion with accomplishment.)

It's the usual problem of good-heartedness bumping up against the real world. The difference between people as we wish they were, versus what they are. Most are good, some are evil, and in today's world more are becoming stoopid.

Hmm. I'm not sure that all of this is fair to Folkbabe? I don't agree with many of the things she believes in. But she is very young. Sad as it is, her positions will change someday, because they have to. Her world is ideal. The real one isn't. She'll have to reconcile herself to that someday.

On the other hand, she was a lot more decent than most antis. She said what she was here for and didn't start arguments. If more of them were willing to listen, we might not be in this mess now.

Was it Churchill who said, (paraphrased here) "If you aren't a liberal when you are young, you have no heart. If you aren't a conservative when you are older, you have no sense?"

Well, I agree folkbabe's heart is in the right place, but boy ... that naivete is pretty stunning.

I found it interesting over at MSMagazine that none of her 'sisters' called her on her extreme pacifism. The pacifist ('folkbabe')was confronted by the empowered woman who had been brutally raped by a male predator ('Raped'), and ... they stood with the pacifist. So much for 'empowerment'.

And, just when I thought I had an appreciation of feminism ... ;)

It's not naivete, it's arogance. I don't see why we have to kiss-up to any anti that happens to grace us with her presence. They labour to deprive us of our civil liberties.

Kiss ass? No. Try to see their side? Sure, why not? It never hurts. She acted decently while she was here and probably learned some. I don't see how that can hurt.

I went to the first URL and as best as I can tell, " American Friends Service Committee" seems to be run by the "Society of Friends", also better known as the Quakers, which does explain more than a little bit of her thoughts.

Will the real Dennis please stand up?
"Oh, oh! Look what followed folkbabe home!" haha LMAO!!!

Really, though, folkbabe was very courteous while she was here. I don't have time to go back through all SIX threads, but it seems to me that she really was here to get a view of the "other side." I'm pretty sure that most of what she said that irked anyone here was an answer to one OUR questions.

Also, I've posted a few times on the Ms. board and "we" pretty much invited her here. When the people there got mad and told us to leave and go back to our "own" board, and that they don't come "crashing" our board, several people said, "come on over!" So she did!

If you REALLY want to see some ignorant anti's, check this out: http://pluto.beseen.com/boardroom/g/49363

Some topic titles..."Why don't you gun a$$holes (edited by me) go away!" "WE ARE GOING TO GET YOUR GUNS!(yes, in caps)" "The founding fathers didn't mean it that way" "EVILGUNS" Blah blah. Take my word for it if you have a weak stomach.

Folkbabe showed us that not all "anti's" are as ignorant and foaming at the mouth as we think, just like we hopefully showed her that we are not all *ignant* inbred hillbillies (no offense to hillbillies).

CindyH, thanks for posting that link. Some of the comments seem so out of orbit, that I wonder if they're for real. Others ... seem on the level.

A number of these folks really are scary. I laughed when Rosie said that about the NRA, but jeez ... some of these 'Million Moms' are honest-to-gosh budding fascists.

The more you read that stuff, the more ammo you may decide you'll need. Unless of course, you would like to spend the rest of your life in a fenced off, red-education camp in Oklahoma ...

Wow. Hitler may indeed still be alive, and he's apparently helping to organize the Million Mom March ...

TFL's Raison D'Etre:
"... a virtual community dedicated to the discussion and advancement of responsible firearms ownership."
To this end, Folkbabe's interaction here was welcome. We may not have changed her mind but, if we did it right, we at least gave her a bit to think on.

I am jumping in here without knowing anymore than what's on this thread, but here goes:
Folkbabe ( and others ) if you want to learn things you've never known about before, join you local police department's civillian obeserver program and ride with an officer ON THE NIGHT SHIFT. MUST be the night shift! Do it for a few weeks and you'll learn why many nice, sane, law-abiding people think owning a gun is desirable...

johnr, well said. Get out of your middle class suburban gated community and come to my neighborhood, with that love a criminal/give peace a chance/can't we all get along additude you'll be lucky to last an hour before reality sets in. If people want to be unarmed, fine, I don't care. Just stop messing with the rights of others who don't agree with you. Bunch of fascists, don't they understand America at all?
