inexpensive shotgun?

Under $1,000 for the BT-99 is a very good deal - there are 3 or 4 versions of it now but I think even the one without the adj comb lists for about $ 1,350 - but I'd recommend the one with the adj comb. The gold version comes with the GraCoil system, etc but it's up around $ 3,500 list price but it's a nice gun.

My wife's birthday brought a Mossberg Youth 20 gauge pump into our household. My 590 was too heavy as was the recoil. Mossberg's youth model comes with 3 chokes, is reliable and has the safety and slide release where I like them.

Wally World has 'em for $209. At that price, most homes can afford to have one to try clays and live birds, keeping it around for home defense if you move on to more expensive sporting guns later.

I am 5'8" and also have short arms. I have a Winchester 1300 that really feels good and I can hit pretty well with it. My father in law's 870 is also an excellent gun but the shuck is longer and I can get shots off quicker and more comfortably than with the Remington. I have also shot the Mossbergs but for some reason I tend to shoot high with them as opposed to any of the others. You can find some 1300s with the changeable chokes for less than $300. They are not as popular as the other two but they are really smooth reliable guns.
