inexpensive 9mm ammo

Hah! Just got back from Wally World and they had Federal aluminum casings, FMJ for 9.99 a box of 50. Bought 3 boxes for now to test out. Can't hardly reload for that cost.

That Federal Champion alumunum case ammo in 9mm is a little cheaper in the 100rd value pack box, the local WM here always stocks plenty of the stuff, it shoots great from every one of my guns that I have tried it with.

I wish I could find the Fed Champion aluminum case ammo in .45ACP more often!

Even if the 'break even' is years in the future it is always good to be as self sufficient as possible. Look at rimfire calibers and how expensive and rare they became for the past few years. Possibly because they are nearly impossible to reload.

Your break even would be right at the 2000 round mark for 9mm (assuming you can get your all in cost down to 10 cents per round). This is assuming you only shoot brass cased ammo. It would take around 3000 rounds to break even if you shoot steel... But I won't shoot steel.

It's really interesting to read... you in the US are living in the praised gun land from our point of view. But the ammo prices are quite high! We pay in Germany under 200Euro per 1000 for Magtech, Geco and S&B all cases in brass. I reload the 9mm for a little over 100Euro per 1000.
Have a wonderful christmas.

Hi again,
I use a dillon XL650, with casefeeder and dillon dies. Projectiles are from Haenler und Nattermann (the cheap ones are from LOS), the powder is from Vihtavuori and the primer from CCI.

I don't even know what factory ammo cost anymore. I haven't bought any for years. I've got an inexpensive reloading set (Lee hand press, etc.) that I paid about $150.00 for everything, and fits pretty much into a desk drawer. I buy powder and primers locally (no direct hazmat fee) when I see them and think I might need them. I order plated bullets from Berry's. I scrounge brass wherever. Some I buy at gun shows. Some comes from the range. I buy some virgin in "off" calibers like 44 Special. I put loaded ammo in empty plastic coffee cans.

I don't even know what a "box" of ammo costs me. I sort of figure it as free. Once I've paid for the components, the price is forgotten. No real worries about shortages either.

Dass der Reloader bei weitem der beste ist. Die Deutschen kaufen keinen Kram!

(That reloader is the best there is, Germans don't buy junk!)
