Impeach Bush?

Legally, that's exactly what it means. Just because we would like things to be a certain way doesn't mean they are.

Redworm, it depends on what you consider to be ultimately the Supreme law.

In John Kerry's state, it is "illegal' to transport one single bullet from your bedroom, to the trunk of your car, unless you have a "license" to "transport" that bullet.

However, I believe the "law" is unconstitutional according to the 2nd Amendment, and therefore, pursuant to Article VI of the Constitution, that "law" is not "law" regardless of what a Judge says. He is simply wrong.

Now I know you will say, "yeah well pal, violate it and see what happens" however, my entire point is, the Judge has sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution. The Constitution itself, says the law in John Kerry's state is not law according to Article VI. Because such a law is "not in pursuance" of the Constitution's 2nd Amendment, which clearly says "shall not be infringed" regarding arms.

The further we allow lawyers to get our system of government away from the Constitution itself, the more rights we run through the shredder.

One day this country will get back on board with our Constitution. Some lawyers may not like it, cause it takes away their power, but that is EXACTLY what the Supreme law of the land is supposed to do.

Trouble is, a law is the law until it is overturned. Argue until you're blue in the face, but that's the way this country works. Saying "But that's not right" is pointless until the law in question is overturned.

Human beings. Yeah, the Constitution frames our government and all but at the end of the day it's still just a piece of paper and only we - human beings - are the ones that can decide whether or not the words on that piece of paper mean a damn thing.

But as far as impeachment of the President goes the law that our country currently follows doesn't seem to have provisions to charge him in this case.

This whole thread is silly...

Even the mere thought the Bush should be impeached is ridiculous and shows just how little the American public knows about our countrys system of government. As someone already stated, if you feel he should be impeached then by all means state your reasons. If not, do what our system of government allows for in this case (that case being a low approval rating of the president) and vote for someone next time around that you know will not act the way he has as president.

Gary, where in the Constitution does it say that violating the oath of office is a criminal offense?

All of your arguments seem to boil down to this one violation. So enlighten us.

Impeach him all you want. You do know that impeachment merely puts him on trial before the Senate, right? As long as he's not convicted without just cause (and he won't be, since conviction requires 2/3 vote in the Senate), I don't care. Better for those political hacks to sit around arguing inane points about what Bush did, might have done, thought, might have thought... rather than passing more unconstitutional laws.

I just don't think impeachment is in the countries best interest.

Would I like to see him impeached?

As a veteran I would like to see him impeached, convicted, tarred, feathered and then sent to serve as an 82B in Iraq.

Unfortunately I think doing what is best for the country is more important than doing what would make me giggle.

Assuming good faith on the part of all involved, you have an opinion and a judge has a different opinion. Since the judge's opinion carries more weight in matters of law than your opinion, that's about the size of things.
