Immigrant Presidents?

OK, put England, France, Germany, Israel, or Iran in for all I care. Russia was simply the first country that popped into my mind. The point was, we have a foreign leader, and a world conflict breaks out involving their home country. Where does their loyalty stand?

That's not even mentioning how would they know what is best for Americans. Put a German in the White House, and who is to say we won't all be required to take months of vacation? Or that Oktoberfest doesn't become a national holiday?

"Or that Oktoberfest doesn't become a national holiday?"

Our Constitution vs. a national holiday where beautiful big breasted corseted women serve you beer in liter mugs until you pass out. After passing out they carry you to a grassy hill where beautiful medical professionals watch over you until you are ready to start over again.

I may have to rethink my position on this one? :D

Anyone in favor of a foreign born President needs to do some rapid breathing to oxygenate their brain better. One doesn't have to be a mental giant to figure out why the framers were against it.

Like I said in the other thread, once a nation figures out how to vote kickback money to itself its government (and nation) is soon to be lost. Ahhnold is a symtom, not a disease.

i have heard that the reason the naturalized president clause was added to the constitution was because during that period of time, the austrian monarchy was infiltrating and subverting foreign governments by having one of their own elected to high office.

anyone confirm or refute this? i'll be researching myself

as for the probability that it will happen, well i think that the majority of americans is not for illegal immigrant amnesty, but we all know how that is going. granted, amending the constitution is a MUCH different situtation, but my point is that majority opinion means jack squat to those that seek ultimate power.

by hook or by crook, i see it happening. arnold in 2008, maybe 2012. and for all you republicans that say "i would never vote for arnold", what if the alternative was hillary clinton?

Ahhnold and Hillarious as only choices?

Let's not forget that we have representatives who have telephone numbers and Emails and have we forgotten what a grassroots effort is?

I have thought about what would happen to us if Hillary got elected and I have thought about what would happen if Arnold manages to get in there. I never ever thought about having to choose between them. You guys think thoughts like that and can sleep at night?

Im with 43061's earlier comment about octoberfest becoming a national holiday. Having actually gone to Octoberfest it would be interesting to see the americanized version for sure. As far as a foreignor be elected to the presidency im sure it will happen just think the state of California elected Arnold as gov. and how many electoral votes do they have. Then think bout how Hilary got elected in NY most New Yorkers i know didnt think she had an ice cubes chance in hell. Well we see how that went. So obviously the states with the most electoral votes are already showing the signs of making it a possibilty.

Rush was ranting daily on this one staking his reputation, first that she wouldn't run, later that she wouldn't get elected and later yet that.....

The sad part about this proposed Constitutional amendment is that it is Republican backed. One could understand the touchy feely people wanting to give all immigrants the same or more opportunities than the US born have but this is coming from the Republicans.

I've called Dana Rohrabacher's office, my own rep and also the R. rep who introduced it in the House, and was told by his staff that the proposal embodies the liberties that our great country stands for and if I didn't like it I should revisit the part about liberty and justice for all !

Dana R. is not introducing anything that he wasn't asked to do by his party's leadership. He's just the disposable rep who'll loose some votes in case this thing gets adverse reaction. Considering that his District includes parts of Orange County and Palos Verdes, red islands in a sea of CA blue, he'll go mostly unpunished.

Bring Congress to heel or face a devilish choice

Let foreigners run for President? NO, NO, and NO!!! We have a Constitution that says "no" to this FOR A REASON.

I read a post on another forum (don't remember which one) last week that said the "Republicans" and the (one world government socialist) Democrats in Congress are working out deal where the Democrats will help the "Republicans" get an amendment passed to permit foreigners to run for President in exchange for the"Republicans" helping the Democrats change the Constitution so that "Slick Willie" can run for a third term in the White House!

Anyone besides me see the writing on the wall? We are coming dangerously close to a decision no one wants to be forced to make: Surrender to socialist rule or fight the next American revolution.

You mean Kommiefornian Republican backed.

The last Republican politician that I know of was buried in the California hills last summer.

There seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding going on here with several posters.

The proposition does not mean we would have foreigners as President, but rather naturalized citizens who were not originally born in the US, but who have been American citizens for at least twenty years. Nobody is proposing letting foreigners run for office.

When one contributes to a debate on an issue, it is helpful to know just what exactly the nature of the argument is.

While I don't know whose post may be eliciting this comment, the "fundamental misunderstanding" would seem to reside with those corpocrats who seek to usurp the rights provided by the Constitution to the American people.

......but who have been American citizens for at least twenty years.
And last I checked, Mr. Schwarzenegger has not renounced his Austrian citizenship but is a dual citizen.

I know I’m not confused about what we are talking about here. My wife is foreign born and I wouldn’t want her running for president because she is a tree hugging socialist at heart and always will be.
