I'm looking for a pistol that...

I am in search of a pistol either made by CZ or based on a CZ action. I would like it to be polymer framed, and not have an ugly squared trigger guard. It would be a full size gun like the CZ75, in .40 Smith and Wesson. Does such a pistol exist?

My interest is that I like carrying full sized guns. Higher round count, better shootability, etc. I really want a CZ75, but the all steel or even alloy framed guns are crazy heavy for carrying purposes.

I'm looking for something similar to my M&P .40 in size. I just like hammer fired guns more.

I would disagree that an alloy framed gun is "crazy heavy". For instance the CZ P-07 is 1.7 lb., and the CZ P-01 is 1.75 lb. The first is polymer, the second is alloy. That said most of the options I can think of from CZ directly have squared off trigger guards, at least the front. Check the clones from Canik and Tristar.

CZ makes a number of polymer framed pistols as well as a couple with aluminum frames. Squared trigger guards seem to be pretty common in the CZ lineup though. The RAMI has an alloy frame and a rounded trigger guard.

One of these days I'm really going to have to learn how to quote people's posts.

Upon looking at the specs on Smith and Wessons site, I guess my M&P is pretty similar in weight. I may have to look further into my options.

The big problem I have is that I am left handed, so I would need a gun with an ambidexterous safety. I would consider a decocker, but I am not sure if I would be able to get proper placement on the a CZ style trigger in DA as I have small hands for a man.

Does a full size, ambi-safety, polymer or aluminum framed CZ style pistol exist? I haven't seen one so far, and I spend more time than I should lookint at guns on the internet. :D

I am fairly familiar with what are and what are not "good" guns for left handed shooters.

This thread is mostly aimed at what seems to be a concept gun... as I have not yet found anything that matches the criteria.

I have considered the Sig SP2022... but as much as I don't like to use this as criteria... to me the CZ just looks so much better. Right now I don't own any weapons based on how aesthetically pleasing they are to me. I suppose I'm looking for one this time, but also something with some practicality.

I like the P09, except for the squared trigger guard. My dream gun would be a CZ75 SA in .40. Or a BHP in .40, but I have heard those are few and far between.

The only ambi models with safeties I can find are the Caniks with steel frames.

What 'full size gun' have you carried so far? Or are you just assuming it's the way to go?

Sure, until you have to lug around a brick all day. Been there, done that.

It sounds like you're looking for a CZ-40B. It's not polymer, it's an alloy receiver, but you're wrong about weight. An alloy receiver doesn't weigh significantly more than polymer, and may weigh less, because a polymer receiver has a steel insert to hold the action parts.

M1911.org did an article about the CZ-40B in a recent issue of their on-line magazine: http://ezine.m1911.org/showthread.php?205-CZ-40B-Review

The pistol weighs 32 ounces. For comparison, an all steel 1911 weighs 35 ounces, and an alloy 1911 weighs around 28 ounces. The Rock River Arms polymer 1911 weighs (per Rock River) 2.04 pounds, which is 32.6 ounces.

Small hands? Cajun Gun Works has a trigger kit that moves the trigger's "at rest" position farther back, for a shorter stroke.

Don't the CZ 85B and 85 Combat meet the OP's criteria except for the rounded trigger guard? I'm a lefty and have been lusting after the 85B or 85 Combat for a while.

OP, is the trigger guard requirement just an aesthetic thing for you, or something functional you don't like about the squared off trigger guard?

They're also steel framed though, and the OP wants to keep weight down.

The preference for a rounded trigger guard is aesthetic. I may have to check out the CZ-40B.

Chris, I carry my full size M&P pretty often. Usually along with an extra mag or two, and sometimes carry my Shield along with it.

It is noticeable, but to me it's worth it for a more shoot able pistol.
