waaaahoooo!!!

i just got an HK USP .45f and i can't get this stupid grin off my face.

it shoots so darn nice. it almost makes me look like a pistol marksman even though i've got a ways to go...but i'm gonna love every step of the way.

woooohooooo!

i'm already thinking about a tactical barrel (did i spell that right?)...but i might just save up for a tactical.

a 9mm or a 40s&w sounds interesting but i love the idea of 10 .45 caliber rounds in a pistol that i'm amazed i don't think is too large. so another .45 is looming on the horizon. (i gotta find a place to get cheaper ammo...)

I looked long and hard at the H&K USP45, but went for the Glock 17 instead. I just couldn't get over that funky magazine release and that Hip-flasK, ergonomically-challenged handle. My "Tupperware" gun practically melts into my hand when I hold it, as if it were an extension to my arm.

H&Ks are great guns; don't get me wrong. But so are Glocks. When it came to deciding between the two, however, it was "feel" that ultimately tipped the balance for me.

Bah, there's always one Glock guy to ruin an HK party :D

USP's are the greatest. Being a poor college student, I only have one right now...but I see a USP45 of my own in the near future!

That damn 10/22 and all the shiny new parts I bought for it sidelined my USP plans.

I've always found it odd that most people who love Glocks don't like HK's and those who love HK's usually hate Glocks.
I have both and love both!!
Right now I want to buy a USP9F but won't be able to shoot one prior to buying. Can anyone who is familiar with both the Glock 17 an the USP9 tell me how they compare? I'm aware of the ergonomic and cosmetic differences. I just want to know they compare in terms of recoil, muzzle flip, etc.
Thanks.

harrydog...

I hope you didn't bundle me up with those who "hate" HKs. I merely said that I preferred Glock over HK. I wouldn't have looked long and hard at the HK if I hated it.

Can't get over that funky magazine release...

I'll join the HK party and congratulate you on your purchase. I bought my USP 45f 2 months ago. It's my favorite pistol. When I finally told my wife I had bought it to protect the family during the time of great terrorist uncertainty in late September (I already have a gun safe full of rifles, shotguns & a revolver), she agreed it was a good idea and suggested I even get a CCL. (I didn't mention to her that I was already registered for the class). By the way, I already have my new license.:D

i want to also say that i don't hate glocks. i said that in an earlier thread i started, but i'm asking for forgiveness now.

after some reflection, i like the glock trigger. i also think they're pretty accurate and i like their sight picture.

but, i love my usp. it's a straight forward semi-auto pistol. i also love the 10 shot .45 clips. that's a lotta bullets :) . (and i don't have to pay for a high-cap then, either.)

my problem with glocks is that, being a fairly new shooter, i'm not really up to par with my control of the wrists. i have a tendency to get "floppy" (and i don't mean "flailing"). so with the glock's light frame and slide, i get jams. that was with a 9mm, which has it's characteristics and stuff. i have a suspicion that a 40 S&W would be an adjustment, too. (i'll find out tomorrow on the range) but the .45 is a big, slow, low recoil round, and i like it a lot.

I loved my USP45. It was a great shooter and very reliable!!! But the damn thing was about as easy to conceal as a Sherman Tank. No problem in the winter time. Women either drooled or ran away in the summertime! LOL

Harrydog,

I have an USP9F which is getting near to the 10K mark. In terms of recoil the HK and the G17 is about the same. Some say the Glock has a little less muzzle flip - I don't feel any significant difference. I shoot the HK more accurately.

does anyone else feel the DA pull on their HK SUCKS like my USP45 fullsize does????

other than that, it's a wonderful piece.

The USP has a DA option? Oh yeah I vaguely remember that. v9 baby. Or try the Match trigger. Sweet. Cheap fix: try the Wolff 10lb hammer spring.
