I'm finally getting a 1911

Why oh why is this taking so long? The minutes seem like hours, the hours seem like days, and the days seem like YEARS. In the mean time, I can order some extree magazines. What brand is good? Or what brand might the cross cannon like? Sorry if that's a question that's been covered a bazillion times. I'm a total 1911 noob and have lots to learn. Like how to decock the dang thing without looking like a caveman. LOL

Beautiful piece there IMTHDUKE. I'm more of a checkered walnut grip guy but that's a great lookin' pistola. Does the bobbed tail make a difference in carry printing, do you think? I usually pack an Officer's Model sized Sig but with a square grip in a Tom Threepersons, open top rig but always wondered how the bob-tail would work out. That's my Ruger CMD in the rig with a pair of Son#1's grips on it.

To be honest, I can't really tell if the bob tail makes that much difference. I usually carry the Dan Wesson ECO 3.5 in. I have CT green laser on it.



The grips came on the EB and I like them because their different.

Decock a 1911? It doesn't have a decocker lever if that is what you're referring to. Just flip the safety up and you're in condition one. Cocked and locked.

To unload...drop the mag and then rack the slide to eject any rd in the pipe.

Everyone needs a nostalgic 1911 platform. I'm not a purist and I bought a Springfield RO chambered in 9mm. There is no nicer shooting semi than my 9mm RO. Yell at me all you want for passing on .45 but I buy what fits my want's. Shooting 45 acp gets real expensive with no advantage for the typical recreational shooter. Fear not all you .45 acp aficionados... I recently purchased my first venture into a tactical .45 platform and bought a FNX 45 Tac. I'm happy to say even though I have things a little backwards I have the best of both calibers ! ;)

deerslayer303, she's absolutely GORGEOUS! That's really the look I like in 1911s: parkerized steel and wood grips.
