I'm apparently an Anarchist, just like Frank Zappa.

Roberta,
My bad - sorry,, I had Frank mixed up with someone else.:o
For some reason I had the impression his political stance was way left of center.
Now I'm racking my brain to try to think of who I was thinking of.

Re: the anti gun stance.
It's his daughter Moon that's the anti.

I really apologize for my earlier post.

The others wants to take advantage of the First Amendment... (Another NO NO)
How is that even possible? The first amendment is there specifically to prevent people who feel they have the authority to control what I see and hear from doing so. If I want to write a song promoting incest then I have the right to do so. You have the right to keep your kids from listening to it but you have absolutely no authority to keep anyone else or anyone else's kids from listening to it.

The video game industry caved and came up with a new adults only rating for video games ("San Andreas" was already rated MATURE, and sales were supposed to be limited to 17 years and older)...

...However, thanks to Hillary Clinton's efforts, I predict that it won't be long before the industry starts putting out sexually explicit video games now that they have an umbrella to cover them.

Sorry to nitpick, but the AO rating had been around long before the GTA:SA debacle...I'm pretty sure it had been around since the establishment of the ESRB ratings system. You just never see it because no mainstream (Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart, etc.) retailers will carry games with that rating...I'm not even sure that "specialty" game store like GameStop and such will carry them, though they might.

So unlike the parental advisory stickers an AO rating is a de facto censorship of a video game; if you can't sell it in any normal retail stores, and are instead limited to specialty stores (or, in some cases, adult-video-type stores), your chances of recouping development costs are pretty well shot. At least for any "big" title. So I doubt any of the major software publishers will be using the AO rating to try and boost sales anytime soon, and rather AO rated games will remain fringe titles that nobody ever hears about (as they have been for years).

They do. As do Best Buy and CompUSA.

Cool, thanks for the info. The only place we have up here to get games other than the mainstream retailers (like Target, Wal-Mart, etc.) is a GameStop, and their selection up here is so horrid they barely carry all the mainstream games. Such is life in the boonies.

And yeah GTA:SA was re-released minus hidden content to get their M rating back.

The only quasi-mainstream game I know of with an AO rating is the uncensored version of Leisure Suit Larry.

Tell me, how do you take advantage of the First Amendment?

By using unpopular or offensive speech?

First, "taking advantage" is generally unethical...

Second, he is taking advantage of the First Amendment by going to extremes and intentionally stepping on the sensibilities of others with an uncaring attitude...

It is un-gentlemanly and ill-mannered to say the very least...

Just because the First Amendment guarantees your right to speak your opinion without fear of being arrested... It doesn't absolve you of responsibility in what you say... But this ass seems to think it does... and he is justified in his own mind... because it makes him a profit.$$$$$$$$

Good manners, and respect for other people's personal space, is all but lost on this me4me generation...

Just ask the "dude" driving down the public streets with his "monster" stereo blasting so loud that you can hear the disturbance 100 yards away...

...with the windows closed on BOTH vehicles!

Self-serving vipers... :(

Pointer: manners, extremes, gentlemanly conduct and respect for others are completely subjective ideas. You cannot presume to claim that others must be subject to your ideas and standards of conduct.

Pointer...
First off, you shouldn't speak of the man in the present tense. He's dead.
Secondly, you shouldn't assume that he was making money off of sex or violence music or videos.
Lastly, you should not assume that it is ungentlemanly to stand up for others who's works you personally dislike.

That was Frank Zappa. His music was purely genius. His lyrics bitingly satirical. He defended bands like Van Halen and Prince for songs as innocuous as "Got it Bad [for Teacher]" and "Little Red Corvette". But he made no money off of similar music. He would also have defended today's rap music, I think....all the while expressing his own view that people have the right to listen to garbage.

I can't say for certain what his 2nd Amendment views were. But his views on the First were strict Constructionist. We could use 100 more like him.
