I'm amazed with my Turkish guns.

Ok so I've had a Tristar c100 for several years now and like it very much. I recently picked up a Regent R100 1911 made by Tisas. I recently took both to the range for some fun. Both guns ran perfect the whole way.

I put 250 rounds through each of them but the Regent R100 really impressed me. Out of the 250 rounds I put through it 100 rounds were shot as fast as I could while still being safe. I'm no Professional speed shooter but all rounds managed to stay on the target. So these two guns have really changed my mind about Turkish made guns.

Has anyone else had good luck with guns made in turkey?

Tisas Have had great reviews for the few that know about them. They have a nice frame to Slide fit unlike some of the other cheaper brand 1911's. I have held it and another (not naming it) brand and the fit was much better. Trigger too.

Girsan is another 1911 Maker out of Turkey. Not familiar with them at all personally. But have heard they are better than the Tisas. They have been around for a while and provide arms to the Turkish military. Think they make shotguns now too.

Sarsilmaz/Sar Has some nice pistols. They have made several Witness variants ( all based on CZ) for EAA for some time now. The K2-45 interested me a little , good reviews and a nice double stack hi-cap 45 at 14+1.

Canik is another one. They make decent Cz variant pistols.

I'll 3rd the positive comments regarding the Stoeger Cougars.

The company is owned by Beretta and they use Beretta's Cougar tooling.

When they first came out their retail was around $350 and that included 3 Beretta magazines. I think the suggested retail has inched up but they are still solid values.

My only negative is they are saddled with their parent company's "War & Peace" lawyer warnings on the slide.

My Weatherby shotgun is made by a Turkish company.

I was interested in the Cougar, but they are large guns, and I mostly CCW.
At home I still use the same guns.

I also have a sar k2. Love it. I am not much of a pistol shot(more of a revolver guy) but I can shot it very well. Got it on a trade and tried it out. atleast 500 rounds later its a keeper for sure. And it holds 15rd of 45 acp. Only complaint is it weight. But what do you expect it holds 15 rounds of 45 acp. I have heard that they may come out with a 10 mm version??? I also own 2 Turkish cz shotguns. Both made by huglu. One is a semi auto model 912. Have not shot much but looks and feels like a nice gun. And a sidexside its also a very nice shotgun. The fit and finish on all these guns is well above their price.

Turkey has a long history of firearms manufacture

They currently have quite a number of quality houses that produce affordable guns.

The Tristar P120 is on the very top of my short list. I was very impressed with the aluminum alloy framed T120, but am holding out for the slightly heavier P120 as it will be a range toy, and not for carry.
I also was impressed recently by the SAR K2 which very well extend my short list by one!

K2-45? Only reason I knocked it down was the lack of after market springs. I know I could get replacements but not in different strengths. Wolfe told me they don't make any. Had to move the Witness Elite Match 10mm in it's spot. Been wanting a 10mm Anyhow.

I've had 2 Stoegers (9mm and .40), a Sar ST10 (9mm) and a Regent R100S (45) and they are all great shooters and well worth the money. I'd recommend any of them.

I picked up this Canik 55 tp9 late last summer from Fleet Farm.
Truly as a impulse buy. $299 I think.
Its taken a bit for this gun to grow on me. But I have to say I am liking it allot.
It has been very reliable and shoots every thing well ( Except SWC's) Hollow points ok and every thing else.

Other than the SWC I have not had one single failure. Not one and I may have 1000 rounds through this thing now.

I shoot in a informal pistol league on Thursday nights. Most of the guys are shooting tricked out Glocks, Kimbers ect.
I kick most of their butts. There are a few that are actually skilled. But I shoot more accurate.
They were all ewwing and aweing, What gun is that??? Who makes that.
Is that a Walther??

Then I told them. No its a $299 Turkish import..
Oh..... they said.
hehehehehe;)

You should try the TP-9SA. It's got a crap load of good reviews. I'm waiting on the TP-9 v2 now.
