Yep, yours truly is under subpoena for the US District Court in SAN DIEGO the first week in February...horrors, I have to leave Alaska for San Diego on the governments dime :) Hope its warm(er) there.:eek: :) :p

Cant give the whole story yet, but it apparently involves either a conspiracy or attempt to violate some Federal Gun Laws. Double fun..get some sun and help lock up some bad guy!

NARC!!!!!:D Just kidding, have fun while you are here in sunny CA. If you want to drive up to LA (maybe 1.5 hours) on feb 3 there will be a big Arfcom/Calguns shoot at a private range that you are more than welcome to attend. I'd be happy to buy you a few beers afterwards.

Violating a federal gun law doesn't make someone a bad guy. Those who write and enforce those laws are the bad guys, because those laws violate the Constitution and our freedom.
 
Wildalaska knows a lot more about this particular case than anyone else here, so if he says it's a bad guy, that holds a lot more weight than another "the gun grabbing government is that bad guy" speech.
 
Given some of the federal laws on the books these days, I'd have to know more before I decided that being such a witness is a thing to be proud of.

I was going to warn you that saying you were going to be a government witness on a firearms case would probably get you vilified on the board by some of our knee-jerk RKBAers. (The ones that just automatically assume the Feds are wrong, without knowing anything at all about the case.)

Wild if its a true BG i hope you help put him where they need to pipe sunlight to him . And if its an abusive charge on some small technicality i hope your testomony helps free him from the clutches of the atf LOL . Either way i am shure your testomony will be both accurate and honorable .

Do you people understand what "subpoena" means? It's not an option whether or not he shows up at the hearing. It's federal, no less.

Oh, I get it. Wild, who makes his living in a trade that's already under intense scrutiny by the Feds (who, I might add, would just love to shut him, and others, down), is supposed to decline the "invitation" simply because a minority of posters are anti government. Yeah. Right.

I'm just curious....what could be deemed an "abusive charge on some small technicality" that would mandate both a Frederal prosecution and the testimony of a dealer?

Not directed necessarily at you Redneckrepairs, but in general...how many of you folks actually understand how the Federal Criminal system works?

Lets say a transposed serial no from another dealers bound book ( honest mistake ) that you did a transfer with . Or perhaps someone you worked for with a similar issue ( i dont know your background really , but the former employee thing imho would incite a sobpena to testify to practices ect.. ) by abusive charge on some small technicality i refer to some ( not all ) atf agents seeming pre-disposition to resolve every infraction in court , not necessiairly by the most expediant and moral means . Some ( not all ) Federal prossicutors and judges just eat this attitude up . I am not anti gov . quite the oppisite , and a setting federal judge in denver i have traded guns with No finer man walks the face of the earth imho .

I tend to think that is the most tiny exception rather than the rule.

Good luck Wild. There are a couple of hotel/motels in the Sandy Eggo area that have free b'fasts and there is one that used to put out a real good afternoon happy hour spread as well, never needed to pay for supper either. It's been several years since I've been there so I can't remember the name or how to get to it. A little bit of "Finger walkin' " on the Internet could probably ferret them out.
 
Wild , I tend to think abuses are the exception rather than the rule also , but that does not make them non existant . My background in LE makes me tend to side with teh guv on most things , Howeaver " billy black gloves " types in LE are not limited to the local depts . As long as we have new officers a small percentage will need weeded out , and untill they are they do disrupt lives . You ran with the second half of my post , not the first half bud lol . I lost my tinfoil hat years ago , and choose to look at any case based on the facts not any hype . Chances are you will help get someone that none of us want to be associated with off the streets . No matter the case tho as stated before I am confident your testimony will be consise , accurate , and honorable . This judgement i make from reading your posts here .

Have fun Wild. If it is at the governments expense definately look for a hotel with the "gov't rate" that includes breakfast. Also if they are giving you any type of orders then go to SATO online or over the phone and have them do the booking for you and get your hotel (they will be able to provide you with a list of "approved" hotels in the area).
