I'm a failure:(

You think YOU'RE a failure? I started taking classes last October, passed CompTIA Network+ in November, have dropped 4K+ on training for NT4, THEN GOT SIDETRACKED BY WORK, and STILL HAVEN'T TAKEN A MICROSOFT EXAM!

You're ahead of me for having even tried it. There's no way I can complete the core's by December, so I'll have to start over from scratch.

You're not a failure my friend. You're a success in progress.

SA Scott

I always try to remember that in the course of setting his 650+ homerun record, Babe Ruth struck out 1340 some odd times. Keep swinging. It's every bit as important to know what you don't know as what you do, 'cause then you can do sumpin 'bout it. The truly ignorant are those who don't know what they don't know, and don't care. Education is a two edged sword - on one hand it broadens your horizons, on the other you become aware of all the stuff you don't know and may never get around to. If it were easy, everybody'd be MCSE, and no one would pay the premium to hire oone. Keep swinging. Thus endth the sermon, mon. M2

What the h*ll are you guys talking about. We start talking about failure and end up hip-deep in techno-babble.

BadMedicine, you did not fail. You suffered a temporary tactical reversal of fortune. Victory and defeat is a battle fought inside your head.

Winston Churchill said, (I think)"Never, ever, ever give up!"

Now go shoot a box of .22, drink a beer, and get back in there.

Keep us posted!

No your not. I failed one during my qwest. It was the workstation test. Also, be careful of the software/pc in the test centers. On IIS4 you have to start/stop the service. On others if you pick an answer and then go see the diagram it wipes out your selection and you have to pick an answer again.

So it could have been the querks in the program.

By the way, anyone have good resources for upgrading to the WIN2K track? Have to pay for this on my own now, and self study would be nice since I travel to much. Please email me. Thanks.

Here's what I'm doing. You guys might be interested.

I'm getting my MCPS before the end of the year while its still offered (may come back with the 2000 track, but as of now its gone on Dec. 31). That's only one test and I get my number (Bill Gates personally tattoos that on your forearm, right?).

That way, I have some letters by my name along with some NT background. I'll finish my MCSE next year. Technically, I'm wasting some $$$ this way, but realistically those letters mean something to somebody.

MCSE?
Guys - I hire techs all day long. I'm not the only guy that does... but let me give you my perspective.
Novell certs... I dont care.
MCSE... Dime a dozen here in Utah.
MCP? Useless.
A+? I wouldnt bother unzipping to piss on an A+ cert.
What I like? CCNA. Its only one test. But the class should teach you everything that at least I need you to know. Initially that is. I also require within 30 days - for you to obtain a passing score on the ROUTER CORE TECHNOLOGIES test.
I dont even read a resume unless I see CCNA.
But almost every resume in my pile has MCSE.

Just my 2 Cents.

You might laugh in the face of FEAR... but unless your armed, its a nervous, unconvincing, little laugh.

Failure is when your best just isn't good enough. You havent even scratched the surface yet Bad Medicine. Kicking yourself in the butt is poor form and bad comedy. Keep on keepin on.

LOL! Don't hold back, George. You're among friends :D

Yep, CCNA is the longterm goal for me, but ya gotta crawl before you can walk, George. For a career changer such as myself, MCSE is a great starting point. Look at it this way, George. If you think so little of MCSEs, what do you think about a guy who isn't packin' the gear to do even that? As far as I'm concerned, MCP,then MCSE are just stepping stones. I want that 100k+ all my instructors keep talkin about for CCNA!

I hope all of you will hurry up and make all of these computer thingies reliable. I figure you've got 3 to 5 years before I'm going to need a crash-free-no-wait-Internet-early-retirement.

Failure is not falling down, it is refusing to get up.

Johnbt,

Actually it is built in perpetual consumerism. You buy and P3 and we invent a P4, You get MCSE's and skills on NT4 we invent Win 2K. Better software requires better hardware which supports even better software which eventually needs better hardware.

It would be cool if the gun industry followed. We would have Star Trek lazers by now. It would take forever for congress to regulate/control them. How do you control a light source. Sure, they would find a way, but by then we would be onto even newer technology.

Consume! Fill those landfills!!!

Just think, you could "ZAP" the dump and the waste disappears. Nothing left but smoldering lawn clippings and used diapers. uugghh. :p :p :p :p

Hmmm. George may be right, I'm not sure where he works, but everybody I know think MCSE's are god's wisdom, in human form :D Up here the market is a little flooded, but my brother was still able to land a 45K job strait out of high school. considering my dad only makes 55k, and he has 20 yrs experience in the military, retired as a captain, and has a masters. But in the states they're paying even more. Look at seattle, california, or arizona. MCSE 0-1 years experience 55-70K!!!!! Now that is money!!! You know how many glocks a year that translates into?? How many AR's?? How many pre-traitor S&W'S???? Even just an MCP will get you $15-20 an hour. And that's not bad for a kid outta school. After my MCSE I plan to get novel, and cisco, and maybe some others, most companies will pay for it, cuz they kow how much it's worth. And the best part is. I love playing with computers. This stuff is great, If I'm going to do it anyway, might as well make a bank doing it, right guys?? :D
