I don't see why people are so supprised.
That's what you get with "majority rule". One group, (the majority) sees the other group (miniority) as free money.
Look at the Cigarette taxes, smokers are a miniority so the majority (non smokers) see that as free money and vote to raise the tax.
We said nothing, the cigarette tax was to fund health care problems caused by smoking. A ligit cause, right? ............How is that working out?
Shooting is no different. Where you have a majority of non shooters, they are going to look at shooters as a source of free money, you can tax them without hurting you're pocket book.
We didn't say a word when they went after smokers, now they are going after shooters, another miniorty.
It's getting that way with "income" too, we are close to reaching the point where the majority don't pay income taxes, and they have no reason not to vote to increase the tax on miniorities.
It's like the old saying, "they came after my town, I didn't say anything because it didn't affect me, they came after my neighbor, I didn't say anything because it didn't affect me, now they're coming after me and there is no one left to help".
It wont stop at the ammo tax, you don't stop it, they'll find something else. Probably our SUVs, tax them cause they use more gas (you already do with the gas tax, but that's not enough. Wait and see, it will come. SOON.
Just wait, I mentioned "smoking", the response will be smoking is stupid, no one cares about smoking". We said nothing and now its ammo, something we care about.
Folks it ain't gonna stop at ammo, that is a "given".
