He's a priest so will likely get away with it,

You see religious leaders can often get away with far more. For instance we had a pastor in town who molested dozens of young children, went on the run and when he was caught they merely said as long as he doesn't get caught molesting anymore children in the next 6 months all the charges will be dropped. That seems to happen a helluva lot.

Also we had alot of hate crime cases dropped when a preacher has given a speech about the evils of homosexuality and how it needs eradicating and one of the church members have gone out and killed someone because of it and no charges ever were put forward for incitement.

+1.

waiting for sheik hilali to be arrested for incitement/conspiracy to terrorism

Rumor has it, King Daley carries illegaly in his own anti-gun city. Wish to heck that little nugget could fall out of his pocket during a press conference.
Weird how hypocrisy is wasted on the politicals.

Rev. Jesse Jackson Arrested at Gun Shop Protest
Sunday , June 24, 2007

CHICAGO —

The Rev. Jesse Jackson was arrested Saturday at a demonstration outside a south suburban gun shop and charged with one count of criminal trespass to property.

Jackson was arrested when he refused to move away from the entrance to Chuck's Gun Shop in Riverdale, police said. He has protested with other community activists outside the shop in recent weeks after a 16-year-old honor student was gunned down on a city bus.

Police said the shooting was gang-related but the teen was not the intended target.

Jackson, who says the gun shop's proximity to Chicago provides gang members and criminals easy access to firearms, has used the protests to call for stricter gun laws.

The Rev. Michael Pfleger, a Catholic priest who oversees a South Side congregation, also was arrested and charged with Jackson.

A message seeking comment from the gun shop was not immediately returned Saturday afternoon.

Two teens have been charged as adults with taking part in the May shooting of Blair Holt, an honor student at Julian High School.

Though the arrests resulted in a minor charge for each man, it provided yet another platform from which to denounce the gun violence they say is plaguing the streets of Chicago

How can this be? I have one serious question, and one smart-alek rhetorical question.

The real question is, I take it that this gun shop can only sell longguns, since handguns are banned in the City of Chicago, correct?

Second, obviously all the "gun violence" which is "plaguing" the City of Chicago is from longguns, since again, handguns are banned, correct? How do those bangers conceal their rifles "on the streets"?

Quick question

Anybody know if Mr/Rev Jackson's arrests during his career have ever been felony convictions? Or misdemeanor domestic violence (Lautenberg amdment)? If so then by law, he is prohibited from buying a gun, so his prescence at at gun shop is....questionable to say the least. The same applies to his followers, of course, just as it applies to the rest of us. It is the law.

I say someone should ask him, "Do you know what it takes to legally buy a gun from this store?" The owner should invite him in (clear out the pro gun supporters for a few minutes, so Mr Jackson won't feel threatened), and go over the paperwork. Have him fill out the 4473 form. See if he can pass the NICS check. Make him understand that EVERYONE who buys there has to go through the same thing. Its the law.

It likely won't do any good, because people like him often ignore the truth if it doesn't agree with their preconceptions, but what do we have to lose by being reasonable (at least at first).

Perhaps getting a restraining order against Rev and company might be in order. That, at least would keep them from getting any guns!

Not like he was going there coincidentally to buy a gun and a protest broke out, though.

RICO violation? maybe the Feds will check out the Rev.

I'd like to see the Rev and the Motor City Madman Ted Nugent in a debate. Can someone arrange this? What a hoot!

Chuck's isn't in Chicago but in a suburb called Riverdale. It's not illegal to have a handgun in Chicago, technically--but it has to be registered, and Chicago won't let you register it.
