Yikes!!! See the picture of police just standing by watching as the American Flag is hauled down and the foreign Mexican flag hoisted up

This is horrible!!! This just shows how the disease of Political Correctness has everyone (including police supervisors) paralized with fear.

And they and their liberal American allies are the ones who compare conservatives like Pat Buchanan to "racists" and nazies? Good grief, one of the things that supposedly "justified" the Nazi invasion of Europe was that "all of Europe originally belonged to the German people" and everyone else just came along and stole it from them. (noting the Anti-American, and "stolen continent" signs.) The Mexican goernment, organizations like La Raza and MECHA see our country as their mythical Aztlan.....but WE are the bigots and nazis

When can we start fighting back?

Backers of illegal immigration at a rally near Los Angeles took down an American flag at a U.S. post office, stamped on it and replaced it with a Mexican flag as police looked on, according to witnesses and a video of the event.

Police officers in Maywood, Calif., Saturday eventually came to the pole to remove the flag but had bottles and rocks thrown at them, a radio listener named Sandra reported to the Terry Anderson show, heard on KRLA in Los Angeles.

A video can be viewed here, and photographs can be seen here on the website of Save our State, a border-security group represented there along with the Minutemen to protest Maywood declaring itself a "sanctuary city" for illegal aliens.

The radio listener, volunteering for Save our State, said that when she arrived at the rally she was rushed by counter-protesters who called out, "Death to the Minutemen."

"They pushed me around and told me if I was to take one step further, they would beat the s*** out of me," Sandra said. "I looked to the back of me and there were about four police officers leaning on their vehicle just watching, doing nothing!"

As she stepped forward, Sandra said, the counter-protesters stole her sign and ripped it up as another threw water on her.

A police officer eventually escorted her to her group.

The opposition, she said, began to get louder, and then "we watched as they took the American flag off of the flag pole and stepped on it on the ground at the United States post office and mounted a Mexican flag, and up it went."

At this point , she said, "the police did nothing."

"Finally, they went over to take it down, and they had bottles and rocks thrown at them," she said. "They did not attempt to arrest anyone. They were unable to take it down because they cut the wrong line so the flag remained there for the rest of the day."

Sandra said that as police officers watched, another woman was beaten, as well as an elderly man, noting the counter-protesters "tend to pick on the weaker targets."

"I believe that all Americans need to know about this and need to see that Mexican flag hanging at an American post office," she wrote to Anderson. "We are being invaded and the American people need to wake up!"

Blogger Bridget Johnson, who also was at the event, said that along with Maywood's flouting of immigration law, as a "sanctuary city," it has disbanded its police department's traffic unit so illegals without driver's licenses won't be fearful of getting their cars towed.

Referring to the supporters of open borders, she called it an "afternoon chock full of racism, 'reconquista' and riot cops, which included a sign claiming North American is a 'stolen continent.'"

Johnson said that "after the local post office took down the American flag at closing time, pro-immigration demonstrators promptly ran the Mexican flag up the flagpole. Eventually, police officers surrounded the flagpole and tried to get the Mexican flag down, but the cords got twisted and they could only lower it to half-staff."

In March, a high school in Southern California punished a student for involvement in a protest in which a Mexican flag was flown above an upside-down U.S. flag.

The incident took place at Montebello High School in Montebello, Calif., when students walked out of classes at area schools in protest of a proposed federal immigration bill.

In April, a Tucson, Ariz., man was arrested after he burned a Mexican flag while demonstrating against the flow of illegal aliens into the United States over the southern border.

Thousands of supporters of illegal aliens gathered in April to protest events in over 60 cities nationwide, but most left home the Mexican flag, because of the controversy it had stirred in previous events.

In what was being called a "campaign for immigrants' dignity," demonstrators instead carried the U.S. flag, a noticeable change from previous rallies in opposition to immigration-reform legislation pending in Congress.

When can we start fighting back?

Go ahead - if you really mean FIGHT - tough guy! How about you convince your elected government to enact policies that are meaningful? Also, what are you talking about with the Nazis? We did take part of Mexico from them and the Native Americans did get their land stolen.

That doesn't mean that we give up our country now or have crappy immigration polices. However, you are incoherent in your rants.

The fault, dear Doug, is not that folks don't grab their Colt revolver and run to battle at the post office (see you on the news when you do that) but that the normal processes of democracy haven't worked yet to correct immigration policies. The great leader, GWB, seems remarkedly uninterested in doing anything about the problem. Maybe because, it serves big business.

Hint - GWB - tool of the economic conservatives and bamboozles social conservatives with speeches but does little for you. Haha.

Two thoughts...

One is that a post office is Federal property, as is the US flag that was taken down and trampled. If you want to dishonor the American flag, you're allowed to by law as long as you own it... But I believe taking and damaging Federal property is a criminal undertaking, isn't it?

The second has to do with that sign about us "illegal European invaders". Simply put, I refuse to leave untill every Spanish-speaking, Spanish-blooded Mexican goes home to Spain. Or do they want special treatment?

Cheers,
Wolfe... (Stolen Continent? Good point... But I assure you, Columbus invaded long before my [mostly] German ancestors did!)

Actually a vast majority of Mexicans are Mestizo, or of mixed European and Native American descent. Yeah, they speak Spanish...but it isn't their fault the Spanish conquered them, and mixed with the Natives.

Indeed it is, and their first ammendment rights to not extend to destroying public property, or the private property of others....so they should have been arrested.

Personally I think we need to adopt a policy allowing more legal immigrants. We are and have always been a nation of immigrants, and I think it's a shame that we've shut our doors just because we don't have any railroads to build at the moment. As far as the illegals that are here now, I say screw it...let them pay taxes and make minimum wage like everybody else; rounding them all up would be more trouble than it'd be worth, IMO.

Wait, you say...but they're illegal! Big freakin' deal. We're a nation of criminals. Most of us are felons that just haven't been caught. Heck, some of us have probably committed felonies and not even known it. People break laws all the time, often willfully. So the way I see it saying that what they're doing is illegal shouldn't be some magical debate ender...it could also just mean the law itself needs a ssecond look.

EDIT: And before there's any confusion, I am neither Mexican nor Latino of any kind...it's just a screen name. I'm white as can be. And I lived in the Southwest (Phoenix, specifically) for the better part of a decade.

I agree that we are a nation of immigrants.
One thing that I always find interesting is that when Mexicans immigrate today, that is OK. But when my family immigrated a couple hundred years ago, we were stealing Mexican land.

Glenn, here is an article about the sale of part of Mexico to the US.

Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mexican Cession (red) and the Gadsden Purchase (orange)
The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was the peace treaty that ended the Mexican-American War (1846–1848). The treaty provided for the Mexican Cession, in which Mexico ceded 1.36 million km² (525,000 square miles) to the United States in exchange for USD$15 million. The United States also agreed to take over $3.25 million in debts Mexico owed to American citizens.
The cession included parts of the modern-day U.S. states of Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Wyoming, as well as the whole of California, Nevada, and Utah. The remaining parts of what are today the states of Arizona and New Mexico were later ceded under the 1853 Gadsden Purchase.
The treaty was signed by Nicholas P. Trist on behalf of the United States and Luis G. Cuevas, Bernardo Couto and Miguel Atristain as plenipotentiary representatives of Mexico. on February 2, 1848, at the Villa de Guadalupe Hidalgo (today Gustavo A. Madero, D.F.), slightly north of Mexico City. It was subsequently ratified by the United States Senate on March 10 and by the Mexican government on May 19; the countries' ratifications were duly exchanged on May 30, 1848, at the city of Santiago de Querétaro. However, the version of the treaty ratified by the United States Senate eliminated Article 10, which stated that the U.S. government would honor and guarantee all land grants awarded in lands conquered by the United States to citizens of Spain and Mexico by those respective governments. Article 8 guaranteed that Mexicans who remained more than one year in the conquered lands would automatically become full-fledged American citizens (or they could declare their intention of remaining Mexican citizens); however, this Article was effectively weakened by Article 9, written into the treaty by the U.S. Senate, which stated that Mexican citizens would "be admitted at the proper time (to be judged of by the Congress of the United States)." As for legislation, the majority of people want the borders controled. The people are ignored. Why are we being ignored? Maybe this helps explain it:

wow..taking down ol glory and trampling it?Id probably be the first to get my behind stomped.

yeah, people have free speech rights but ol glory is a powerful symbol to me.Burn it or desecrate it in my face and yes,I'll go to jail or the hospital if need be.Those colors don't run.

Say what you want, politics are what started the mess, not ol glory. If these characters removed it from a federal building, they should face federal charges then sent back to wherever they came from.

My ancestry includes native americans and scottish on one side and german on the other. You dont see me going to some foreign country and hoisting up my colors and demanding equal rights, benefits without going through the right way to become a citizen. It would be a sure way to get my behind kicked all the way back home.

I agree with glenn in his post.

Here's another link regarding computerized election systems (Diebold specifically, but the point apply to pretty much any system that doesn't leave a voter-verified paper trail). Seriously, slot machines in Vegas are more secure than these things.

And yes, I agree that border control is an imperitive...just not because I specifically want to see Mexicans kept out. I'm a proponent of immigration reform and border security.

When can we start fighting back?
You mean you haven't been? WHY NOT? You should be writing every legislator you can find. Local, state and federal. Start/join a counter protest. Just stay w/in the boundaries of the law, especially if they don't!!

As far as deporting them all, lets be pragmatic: ain't gonna happen. Even though it was a Congressman from my state that proposed we make them all felons. (He must've had too much Leinenkugel's when he dreamt that one up.)

Think about it; if there are 10 million (and that's supposed to be the low estimate) it is logistically impossible to round them all up. And even if you could, how would you transport them, where would you put them? Imagine trying to deport everyone in the state of Michigan. And then, there is the economic impact. Illegals are an ingrained part of the economy, like it or not. And don't start about "taking our jobs"; a couple years ago they couldn't get enough people to harvest the lettuce crop in the southwest (It's the DESERT! You're not SUPPOSED to farm there!) I didn't see droves of unemployed flocking to take advantage of the "job opportunity". These people, for the most part, are doing the "scut jobs" that nobody else will do.

The only possible solution is to: secure the border, then offer a second  amnesty for the ones that are here. Not to make them citizens, but as guest workers. Then allow in as many as we need, and as many as want to become citizens. With ALL that it implies.

Or we could just annex Mexico, right Juan Carlos? ;)

I once wrote a paper on the Mexican War - in it was a quote from James Polk.

It went something like : I should have taken more.

I'm not sympathetic to the stolen country arguments. However, I do acknowledge that borders are shaped by conquest. Let's be honest. Most folks should move on from this. Do we want Germany to try and retake East Prussia?

After awhile, borders established by conquest are the borders and unless you want to go to war - that's the way it is.

I'm the grandson of two illegal immigrants and I've achieved part of the American Dream. I'm educated and have a job that benefits the country. I think immigration is a great thing with reasonable controls. I think we could design them easily except vested interests would rather exploit folks.

I work in the SW and teach many folks of Hispanic and immigrant origin. They are just fine. Let's set up a reasonable process. I have no fear of their 'culture'. That our current government can't figure this out, speaks to not having let their relatives in.

And they and their liberal American allies are the ones who compare conservatives like Pat Buchanan to "racists" and nazies?

Im not a liberal and Pat Buchanen is a rascist and a Nazi (and forget about that...he's an idiot)...

Mr. Meyer, without going into a long history lesson that will degenerate into an argument over details, this business about "we stole the land from Mexico" and "we stole the land from the Indians" is WAY oversimplified guilt manipulating designed to make white people of the 18th and 19th centuries (and hence their decendants, us.) look like eeeeeevil selfish people who were just a bunch of "racist" (A baited relative term from it's Communist beginnings in the 1930s), imperialists and slaveowners who founded a country on oppression and murder and are no different than Adolph Hitler, Henry (Henrich) Himler and their Nazi thugs and death camps. In short, nothing good in history ever came along until the enlightened FDR, JFK, LBJ and MLK came along in the mid 20th century. This is the basic college history lesson given to me and others of my generation over and over again in the 90s in my college years by self-righteous college professors who, like their 18th century French Revolutionary counterparts, seemed to have this idea that all good things started with their 60s generation of "tolerance" (another PC term used to silence anyone who disagrees with them) and everything before them was bad. I don't buy it, never have. I love history and and despise people who seek to reduce it to political correctness to make themselves look important. They can't succeed anywhere else in life so they tear down men of the past to make themselves look big.

With all their faults, our ancestors had no doubts about the need to defend and preserve their civilization and weren't interested in not stepping on PC toes. They weren't ruled by political correctness.

I agree that Jorge Dubya Bush and his neoconservative puppetmasters do serve the interest of Big Business and primarily themselves and that is part of the problem.

My comments of "when can we start fighting back" has nothing to do with pulling our colt revolvers and charging the post office  but figuratively speaking with the overall illegal alien situation. They are becoming more and more militant as is seen on the border by the Border Patrol, ranchers and other Americans who live down there as fences are cut, cattle are killed, pets are killed, homes are ransacked and yes sometimes even people murdered. We now have illegals publicly marching in the streets waving their banner from south of the border making clear in no uncertain terms that they are not one of us, they do not want to be one of us and some of them even feel we should return to the British Isles or wherever our European roots come from. These are not good people that just want to come here to do jobs that we don't want to do as our traitor in the white house (and yes he is a traitor, he and his family are in cahoots with the Mexican ruling elite in addition to not enforcing our immigration laws). When I say, when can we start fighting back, I mean when are we as a people going to start taking this seriously and deal with it instead of trying to be careful and not offend "someone" because we don't want to labled "racist" "xenophobe" "bigot" etc. They have their own culture, they are proud of it, and as well they should be. But so do we and we have a right and duty to defend it.

And as a side, yes there are a lot of Texans of Mexican ancestry in areas of South Texas and the rest of the Southwest. BUT they are very different from the element that has been flooding across the Rio Grande in the past 25 years. Most notably, they are some of the strongest opponents of massive and illegal immigration. Many of them have lived here and assimilated into our culture and those that have their own local culture in areas like South Texas want little or nothing to do with Mexico. They know what kind of corruption lies from down there and they don't want it spreading up here.

Finally, we are not a "proposition nation", "nation of immigrants" or a "nation of criminals" we are a nation of British Colonists with laws, customs and culture primarily originating from around the British Isles from region to region:eek: (that's right I said it. It's offensive to politically correct ears, fearful to PC indoctrinated ears, but it is nevertheless the truth.) We have had immigrants in the past but by and large (with the exception of the big Northeastern cities) have gladly assimilated into our culture and become a part of American life. We are a people just like any other on God's green earth and have a right to exist and defend our sovereignty just as much as the people of Japan, England, Romania, India and Mexico.

Doug - you have the 'racist' thing going on in some manner generating a stew of anger in you. I think the idea that 'racism' is some term that is based on Communism is getting quite farfetched. Even if some communist used the term - racism is a strongly supported and useful construct in describing people.

As far as branding most of the current illegals as this or that. Yes, a selection of them cause trouble as many immigrants did. We could easily come up with a way to let folks in who want to work without a blanket denounciation of them wanting to leave Mexico. Some may be irrational about culture as many of the gun world loonies are. Most are just want to work for a living.

Again, your initial rant is irrational. It is fact that we took this part of the world by conquest. Hitler, Staling, Commies - calm down.

When should we stand up and fight against Kathleen Harris? She's just as nuts as anyone given her set of loony values?

Enjoy and next time don't go to college.

We now have illegals publicly marching in the streets waving their banner from south of the border making clear in no uncertain terms that they are not one of us, they do not want to be one of us and some of them even feel we should return to the British Isles or wherever our European roots come from.

Of coures none of this has anything to do with the second-class treatment we give to illegal immigrants, and the contempt with which we look upon Mexico in general. Not to mention the poverty caused by sub-minimum wages paid to illegals. Not a response to that at all, nosireebob. They're just bad apples. Oh, and they're all like that, dontchaknow.

We have had immigrants in the past but by and large (with the exception of the big Northeastern cities) have gladly assimilated into our culture and become a part of American life.

And the big West Coast Cities (LA, San Francisco, Seattle). So if you discount the population centers that hold a quarter of the population of the country or more (10% just in the NYC and LA areas alone), then yeah they've all assimilated just fine. Otherwise you'll find plenty of neighborhoods where immigrants are not so quick to let go of their culture, be it European, Asian, Latin American, whatever.

Finally, we are not a "proposition nation", "nation of immigrants" or a "nation of criminals" we are a nation of British Colonists with laws, customs and culture primarily originating from around the British Isles from region to region

Man, what? I think the waves of immigrants from Ireland (well, technically that's one of the British Isles...but the culture is signficantly different), Poland, Germany, Italy, and even China, Mexico and Japan have had every bit as much influence on American culture as the original colonists from Britain...probably more so. We ceased to be a nation of British Colonists a couple hundred years ago...you musta missed the memo. Or perhaps you've just never lived anywhere where the "foreign" influence is strong.

I've lived in:
central Pennsylvania (strong German influence)
Phoenix (Mexican/Latin American influence)
and now Montana (strong Eastern European influence, as well as Irish...oh, and Native American).

So you could argue that there is a very strong European influence across the country...but to declare our culture to be chiefly British is a bit of a stretch...at least the way I see it. Heck, I don't remember living anywhere where the British influence was all that strong, at least outside of the "Early American History" portion of the textbooks. Guess I haven't been living in America.

To be fair, then. The Mexican people stole the land of Mexico from the Incas. Heck, if conquest in the past is some deciding feature to some of us, every nation on earth would be at fault. Get a grip.

We are not a nation of felons. What box of tin-foil did that crawl out from under? The time of unregulated immigration passed prior to WWII. No country can sustain a continuing unrestricted immigration policy. Face it, we do not owe it to anyone whom we decide to let immigrate. Only a fool would support the flood of illegals, many of whom are turning out to be unemployable, that we are suffering through today.

The unsupported "facts" and "explanations" in this thread clearly show the reason why the Reynolds Co. stocks are hot. :barf:

From Doug.38PR,

we are a nation of British Colonists with laws, customs and culture primarily originating from around the British Isles from region to region

When can we start fighting back?

You want to start fighting back? Then I suggest you return to your history class and punch your history teacher in the nose for such a lack in understanding of American history, assuming it was the history teacher's fault.

We do derive many of our laws from Great Britain, no doubt, but we are not a nation of British colonists. The thirteen original colonies that formed the nation were Brit. at the time, but not all originally Brit., and much of the rest of the land now comprising the US was Spanish, French, and Mexican with lessor localized colonization by many countries such as Holland and Germany. Moreover, of the original 13 colonies, places like New York and New Jersey were originally the New Amersterdam and New Netherlands, settled by the Dutch before being taken by the British. Delaware was originally New Sweden.

Just because we battled GB for independence doesn't make us British colonists or descendents by default.

To be fair, I said nation of criminals, not felons. I suspect that nearly 100% of us have, at some point, commited some crime...a vast majority have (in their lifetime) commited a crime that carries jail time. Anything from underage drinking or speeding up to DUI and illicit drug use. So the saying that their presence is illegal as though every other "law abiding" citizen on the street (we won't even count the ones who've been to prison at some point) actually abides by the law 24/7 somewhat silly.

Right off the bat, well over 50% of the population has used marijuana at some point...all of them criminals. Almost a fifth of adults in my state drink and drive on a semi-regular basis (based on the "Four out of Five of Us" campaign)...all criminals. Then there's copyright violation; even not-for-profit infractions can be considered a criminal offense (not just civil). The there's assault/battery; ever pushed a guy in a bar without waiting for him to hit you first?

It's a fact: a majority of Americans are criminals. Drug use statistics alone prove that, but you could continue into all manner of other crimes that are committed regulary by average citizens (though not prosecuted).

As far as felonies go, I did say that most of us are felons that just haven't been caught...that might have been reaching a bit. However, a significant portion of US citizens have actually committed acts that could be prosecuted as felonies...I can say that with confidence thanks to our nation's drug policy, but even failing that I think one might be surprised.

So, considering that we've created a society in which nearly all of us are criminals, I'm not impressed when somebody stresses that illegal immigrants broke the law to get here. Millions of Americans break the law just to get to work on time every single day. "Illegal" isn't a word that carries some magic power to me.

You know, if I didn't know that those two were written by the same person in the same post, I would say that the second could almost be a reply to the first.

No joke. My ancestors didn't even come to the US until the early 20th century, and not a Brit in the bunch. Mostly Eastern European. I speak English...maybe that's what makes me British. Wait, though, I don't speak all funny like those guys in England.

Maybe I'm not British at all. Maybe I'm not even American...

Mr. Meyer
Racism is was a word unknown to the English language prior to the 1930s. Like the term "3rd world country" it was a word invented by communist leaders in the early 20th century to try to divide nonWestern Christian peoples against Americans and Europeans. It was propaganda intended to rally people to their cause. It has no clear meaning. What is certain about it is that anyone who is labled a "racist" is someone who is evil and should be rooted out and expelled from all circles of society because they are considered by the ruling establishment (public education, media personel, political circles and other institutions that dictate what gets said and doesn't get said) to be "racist". If you believe that your ________ race is naturally superior to all others by virtue of evolutionary process you are a racist. If you believe that your race is superior and all others are to be exterminated you are a racist. If you believe that God made your race to be the chosen race to dominate the earth and kill off all the "unworthy" other races then you are a racist. If you believe that all races are different you are a racist because you don't believe in equality. If you believe that all races are the same you are a racist because you don't believe in diversity. If you believe that all races have different natural gifts and biology then you are a racist because you are probably a closet Nazi. If you don't believe in interracial marriage to X, Y or Z race you area racist because you just hate XY and Z. If you disagree with other people of another race in _____________ issue then you are a racist. If you disagree with the NAACP you are a racist because you are a white guy arguing against black people. If you believe that your country is right in the _________ War against ____________ country who are made up of another race then you are a racist. If you believe that your culture is superior to another culture in another country made up of by another race then you are a racist. If you hate people of other races than you are racist. If you are angry people of another race because of what they are doing as a racial body of people then you are a racist. If you are against immigration, legal or illegal, you are a racist.

See? All of these definitions of "racism" are what gets thrown around all the time to define the word. Some of them are contradictions, while some indicate hostility towards others while others definitions are outright lies. But all of them are designed to lable somebody into silence that you disagree with. As a result nobody wants to be called a "racist" and hence won't say anything that might fall into line with any of the above comments. Why not just call things what they are or just agree to disagree. For example, extermination of another race is not "racism" it's just plain genocide/murder. Beliefs that your race is superior because of the evolutionary process isn't racism, it's a scientific error that can lead to pride and arrogance or it might just be that person A believes it with no malice towards anyone. Beliefs that God has chosen your people to forever dominate over all others isn't racism, it's a theological error based on a bad theology (or outright dishonest theology).
Hatred of another race isn't racism, it just means that you hate somebody (rationally or irrationally). Being angry at another people of the same race because of their intentions as a racial body isn't racism, it's just being angry (rightly or wrongly)
Soooo, call me what you want to, I don't care. The word has little or no meaning to me. I have my beliefs on illegal immigration and the roots of America as stated in the above posts. Further I am a Christian man who thinks the Bible is the one standard of Truth in life (all truth) in regards to all men being equal before the throne of God and that his grace extends to all nations. If you want to call me or anyone who believes any of that "racist" or psycho-analyze me on an internet forum, then go ahead.

EDIT: JuanCarlos, DoubleNaught Spy

We are in fact a nation of British Colonists. By that, I don't mean we are all 100% white anglo saxon protestants from London society from Maine to California discussing the Queen and Country in Victorian accents over tea and crumpets at 5:00 pm and then drive home on the left side of the road. 1) British colonists weren't just Anglo Saxon Puritans from southeast England, in fact they weren't only people from Britain. There were pockets of Germans of other settlers from other parts of Europe but they were in fact a small minority. 2) the British Isles weren't just Saxon-English, they were Norman-English, Welsh, Scotch, Scotch-Irish and Irish. 3) the reason you don't recognize our society as "British" is because it's the air we breathe. Our laws, manners, customs and culture come from this area of Western Europe. The Northeast had a strong influence of Puritan southeastern English, the South Celtic and Norman-French-English (at least by tradition). So much so that when we see pockets, such as the ones you named JuanCarlos, of other cultures in different regions or cities it stands out to us. (and in some cases, as in northern cities and even cities in the country as a whole now, is little more than isolated tribalism) As a whole we are influenced by much the same thing, British law and tradition. But even some of these minority pockets were not so vivid not too long ago and those that were, were early in our history areas of concern by the Founding Fathers. For instance German immigration to Pennsylvania was cut off before the Germans culturally took over Pennsylvania.
