I'll Say It...

You say you aren't the best shot. I wasn't either that's why I hung around with a group of people that are the best shots. After playing with the smart kids awhile I caught on. I'm a big fan of 22 conversions for practice. I got my wife a S&W M&P 22 and we both love it.

I've been thinking the same sort of thing to make the revolver to auto transition. Is there a shooting competition that uses .22 auto pistols? That would seem to be the ideal way to sharpen those skills.

Marvel Conversion slide for 1911 - used at Nationals for Bullseye

Looks like you are on the same path I am - CZ Kadet on the way to a CZ 75b. I also have a 1911 and looked around for a .22lr with the same feel. Turns out the Marvel Precision 1911 slides are used by serious Bullseye competitors.

I might pick one up if I stick with Bullseye. Right now I'm too terrible to blame my Kadet, so no point upgrading for a while.

Aaron, I was not too familiar with the Smith & Wesson pistols, thanks for the link. I think that's the closest to a striker-fired pistol I've seen anywhere. Price seemed pretty reasonable as well. Thank you.

I have the Browning Buckmark and really like it. It has a great trigger and good target sights. The top sight base on the newer guns are made out of plastic and are known to break, mine did but I found an aluminum replacement by Tactical Solutions that took care of the problem.
I like the feel of the Buckmark over the Ruger.

Pulled the trigger on a S&W M&P .22. Cleaned it and took it to the range today, great pistol. I was able to tune up my grip and trigger squeeze a bit and the results were promising. Now I just need to get the grip and trigger squeeze to be second nature and I'll be on my way. Aaron, thanks again for the link.

I must admit I enjoy shooting spinner targets with my S & W Model 22A semi-auto. Relatively inexpensive, and easy to handle PLUS very accurate with decent ammo.

For a 22 revolver, I have several, but am fast growing to appreciate my Taurus 990, built with the same weight and feel as the bigger caliber "Tracker" guns, this 22 is also an easy shooter with excellent accuracy.

Here's the S&W Model 22A

And here is the Taurus 990. Heavy but a real fine shooter.

Mayor Al, nice pics of nice pistols.

The dealer at the LGS told me to use CCI Mini Mags, which works great because that's what my Savage .22 prefers as well. I ran about 150-some-odd rounds through the pistol Monday and it ate them right up with some decent groupings to boot.
