what would they be?

To make it difficult Contenders and such will count each barrel as a gun. But a drilling or such would count as one.

For the handguns a 4" S&W 629 with either a P11 or G 30.

For the long guns a precision rifle in 340 Weatherby with a M1a Scout.

One 4-inch .357, maybe a model 686, just for its versatility.
One Glock 29 for CCW duties.
One Mossberg 590 w/ghost rings.
One Armalite SR-10 carbine w/the 16" stainless floating barrel.

How'd I do? Was I right?

Here goes, from the guns I actually own, not my wish list:
Glock 22
Ruger GP100 (or my G27..can't decide)
Bushmaster Disipator
Remington 11-87P

Currently:
Robarms M-96 rifle with carbine kit (i.e. 2 barrels) so no shotgun or .308 according to Glamdring's rules :( .

That leaves 2 handguns:
Glock M-30 and M-19.

.357 Single-action Ruger w/ 9mm cylinder.
M1 Carbine
Rem 700 precision rifle w/ 20" bl
Mossberg 590
Yeah, so I cheat. So? For serious work, you need a longarm. .

Oh, this is tough, but here goes:
Glock 17 - 9mm
S&W Model 686 - .357 mag.
Ruger 10-22 .22LR
Remington Mod. 700 .308 cal.

Wait, maybe that should be a Glock 19 for CCW. And I still need a shotgun. No, this is more than tough, you've got to have more than 4 guns.

1. 22LR rifle - 10/22 or bolt action. scoped.

2. .308 FN-FAL, 18" barrel. (removable) DSA scope mount and scope. Many full-cap magazines.

3. Glock 19, many full-cap mags.

4. Glock 23 or 27.

I would prefer to have 3 rifles and only one handgun, as a precision bolt rifle would be really useful for reaching out past where the FAL can be used.

The FAL is the workhorse - it can handle any North American game, and most social problems.

The .22 can be used for small game, and the pistols for self-defense.

The Glock 27 would be the main concealment pistol, and the Glock 19 is there just to have something that eats 9mm, which is ubiquitous.

As much as I love my AR-15, it just isn't useful enough in general use - besides plinking. It's good in "social" problems, but isn't powerful enough to kill much game reliably.

The choices are giving me a headache but:
.45ACP SA 1911A1
.45Colt Blackhawk
Bushmaster Shorty AR15
SA M1A
Well, that's four but it leaves too many in the safe.

smithz:
If the 22LR is good for small game, the AR15 should suffice as well. It's just a 22LR on steroids. I suppose you'd have to look for small game on steroids. :)
