If you only had one rifle.....

My choice?

Remington 700 BDL in 300 UltraMag. I'm thinking about bringing down critters like Elk, Moose, etc. that I can eat. The 300 ultra mag gives tons of 500+yard energy so I can haul it down without having to run it down first and it'll tackle just about any game on the planet. Yeah, I know, overkill for deer and the like, but I'd rather err on the side of caution.

My first priority obviously is to eat, (my profile betrays this) and survival depends upon grubbage.

Let's see,my choice's are 30/30,.35rem.,.223 handi rifle,.22lr,.308....I'd have to go with my 111gl savage in .308.

Tamara,

I have seen various postings casting aspersions on the IQ of LEO's, but ATF are not going to fall for the old 'silencer disguised as a cat ' gag!

Forgive the ignorance - what was the lower rifle?

My choice - 30-06 A bolt, 6x42 Schmidt & Bender and 165 grain Nitrex. Use the scope to beat to death anyone with anything else I was after:D

Since I live in America. My choice is the No.4 Mk.1 Lee Enfield.
It isn't the most accurate rifle in the world, but it will pretty much do anything that I require out of it.

Gentlemen (and ladies too!),

I guess I should have qualified it a little better, as I was thinking hunting rifles...

If it were a survival situation, I would definitely choose a FN-FAL...that would be a little more useful than my .375

Oakleaf,

The lower rifle is a Spanish FR-8. (M-43 Spanish Mauser fitted with CETME-C barrel and chambered in 7.62x51 NATO.)

I figured that when it said "one rifle" that it meant for all jobs a rifle could concievably be asked to do. If it was just for combat/survival/TSHTF/hordes of rampaging undead mutant ninja grizzly bears, then I'd take the AK folder and leave the .308 bolt gun at home. ;)

For surviving roving bands of post-apocalyptic mutant-ninja-teletubbie-turtles, my M1A.

For all other purposes, my Rem ADL in .30-06 with fixed 4X Leupold scope.

If it's just for hunting, and if it is a bug-out situation, and I can have only one..........then make mine a Volquartsen .22 Mag Lightweight with a Leupold 2.5-8x scope.

What situation?

If you have alot of weapons, it depends on the situation....I mean how long you you be gone?,,,how many people "would you encounter?"......short term thompson .45 .......short range tommy gun..med range ar-15 or m1 garrand...long range....WIN 70 7mm mag.....

Thanks Chris

Depends...

If I was going to head for the hills or jungle, I'd grab an FAL para (50.63 or 50.64). If I was headed for the desert or Middle East, I'd take a Kalashnikov. If I was headed up to Camp Perry to compete in a DCM match, I'd take a 20" AR15 and come in dead last.:p

Beware the man with.........

Only one gun. One he's used in many circumstances and knows well. One which is lovely to look at, accurate, reliable, simple, and powerful.

To wit, my 1903A3 Remington.

Only one rifle...let's see what's in my cabinet.
I see a Schmidt-Rubin 7.5x55 Swiss. Nah...no ammo and not likely to find any very easily. Then there's the Mosin Nagant M44 7.62x54. Got 60 rounds for it but haven't shot it the whole time I've owned it. Here's a Ruger 10/22 w/4x scope. Got about 1000rounds of hollow points. Might be a candidate; good for squirrels and rabbits, so-so for defense, not worth a flip for deer. Only thing left is a Marlin 30-30 w/4x scope. Here's 6 boxes of 150 gr. Silvertips and what have we here...another 6 boxes of 30-30 Accelerators (.22 cal. saboted slug). Think I'll go with the thuddy-thuddy.

Probably my FAL.

Tamara, you bayonetted that cat pretty good. I'm alergic to the things myself, so I totally understand. :p
