If you had to choose a 1911 in each of the following price ranges which would you

Any thing but a Kimber Most expensive at time 1911 I ever bought.
But a Colt DW but not Kimber . My Colts and Dan Wesson have never been 1st problem .

<$600 - RIA
$600-$800 - Ruger
$800-1000 - Colt, SA
$1000-$1200 - S&W SC-E
>$1200 - Les Baer, Wilson Combat

Honorable Mentions: I had a Para-Ordnance P13, bought it about 18-20 years ago that was a very good gun; ate everything I put through it, was pretty accurate out to at least 20 yds, just was a very reliable, accurate shooter. Apparently I got lucky, as most reviews of the gun weren't positive. But I can't have had the only good one, so there must be good ones out there. Another one would be Sig's 1911. I've never owned one, but I've pulled the trigger on a couple and liked them both. I could be wrong, but i don't think Sig makes very many lemons.

< $600 ? RIA
$600 - $800 ? Ruger
$800 - $1000 ? Ruger Nightwatchman, Colt, SA or Sig
$1000 -$1200 ? Colt, SA or S&W

<600 = RIA, Sistema Colt (rough), or Ballester-Molina.
600-800 = Sistema Colt (nice), but nothing really jumps out at me as being that much more valuable than a RIA.
800-1000 = S&W or Colt
1000-1200 = S&W or Colt
>1200 = Nighthawk, Les Baer, Wilson, Ed Brown

the last 1911 I bought was a used Remington r1s, for the same price I could have bought a used colt series 80,fit of the R1S was better than the colt, both had little wear.

<600 = Rock Island
600-800 = Springfield Armory
800-1000 = Used Dan Wesson
1000-1200 = New or used Dan Wesson
>1200 = Dan Wesson, Fusion, Les Baer, Wilson, Ed Brown
