The 8 shot .357/38spl R8 is more versatile and more powerful than a 1911 with the same amount of shot's.

But I'm bias, great SA/DA trigger on mine. What onther revolver can you mount a laser, a light, and a scope right out of the box?

It's accurate, well balanced, recoil isn't to bad (Not as bad as I was expecting), that was one of my main concern's. Mine came with a V groove rear sight, and a white dot front sight. easy to put on target.

I like it better than my front heavy 627 V-Comp. To me cool factor is out the door.:D

Picked up my Vbob yesterday. Wow! Its absolutely beautiful. My only regret is not getting it sooner. Will post a range report tomorrow.

 I'm getting my range bag together and and I'll let yall know how the Vbob shoots. If it shoots half as good as it looks, I'll be extemely happy. Pics and a report coming tonight.

Waiting for this range report is killing me:o
The range I frequent had a Valor VBOB for sale recently, I was really starting to think of ways to save for it. It was about $1600 out the door. The next time I went in, it was already gone!!!!

I've been reading up on the Smith and Wesson TRR8... I'm not sure what they are like for long term durability. I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue if you just shot specials out of it, but I do wonder how many thousands of rounds it could really stand to take. So far all I've heard are rumors that it wont stand up to the abuse over time, and that for $1000, it's just not gona be worth it unless you really need it for the main reason it was made. (for the entry team member holding the shield) Or you plan on letting it sit for years as a house gun, only shooting it occasionally. (Someone please tell me otherwise!)
I've also seen a youtube vid (Nutnfancy) where they had a few lite primer strikes, and read on another forum in a google search that someone else was having lite primer strikes, they sent it back to smith, the trigger pull was heavier upon return, but the problem was fixed. This is one of those guns that I want to love, but I just dont know if it's worth my time and money....

Someday I'll get the Marlin 45-70 SBL!

I guess for now I'll just keep drooling over the Dan Wesson!:)

I chose the DW simply because I'm into handguns more than I am long guns and I especially like 1911s. The DW VBOB is an excellent 1911 pistol so that is what I would buy. It really is a matter of personal preference.

Just my personal opinion....

If you already have a 1911, then you're better off in many case to get the S&W and 1895.

If you do not have a 1911, then you would be far better served by obtaining a loaded Springfield 1911 (soon to elaborate), plus the 1895 and have some bones left over. Possibly even enough to find a Ruger Security Six to strap on.

If you don't have a 1911 and already have a good lever and revolver, then get a springfield loaded. Better investement, IMO, and you'll have some money left over. I would invest that into ammo, other firearms you want but don't have, or if you have everything else then put in a mutual fund or savings account.

I just feel that the 2K 1911's are way beyond the point of diminishing returns. I love 1911's. My first pistol was an RIA. It was accurate, reliable, and not too shabby looking for $320.00. You can spend a little more than twice that and get a nice loaded springfield that goes above and beyond. I just can't get into spending 2K on a pistol when you can have a $500.00 pistol that is combat proven by every interpretation. My 2 cents.

Its just personal taste. I sold 2 kimbers, an LCP, and a shotgun to help finance my Vbob. No regrets. Its in another league entirely imo.

1911

Since I just bought my first 1911, I have to say go with that. You can find high quality 1911's cheaper then that so u can still get the lever. Both guns are my favorite and my lever action is a 45/70 that is A BEAST! I bought a springfield for 500 at a gun show last week, but Smith and Wesson have some that are supposed to be top grade, or a Springfield loaded.
